And not even REMOTELY worth what he is being offered.
JUST WALK AWAY! - MBFlyerfan
What player is when they hit free agency? All the top players are overpaid.
The Flyers may not be willing to give Weber 10+M if he becomes available especially with the cap (which may not go up much more). |

Didn't hear who told the guys on the NHL Home Ice show but they just said that they think its Minny, pens, Devils, Detroit and Flyers in that order for Parise - nastyflyergirl
Are the Flyers ahead of the Hartford Whalers in Parise's pecking order? |

Seems pretty clear that it is between Pitt and Minny, now to focus on actually improving our team and not throwing money at a pipe dream. |

We got Leighton. Everything else from here out is a bonus. |

Minnesota is his home, and Pittsburgh offers him a better chance to win, as well as playing with the best player in the NHL.

Yeah, he would help no question. They lack offense, they are solid defensively and in goal. - PLindbergh31
They have Mikko Koivu back healthy...and with the addition of ZP, and top prospects Mikael Granlund and Charlie Coyle -- they could be very good in a year or two. |

I hope he signs with Minny actually. Would be good for the League imo. The big market teams don't have to always get all the stars. You don't want the NHL becoming baseball where the Yankees have bought 5 Championships. |

Would be good for the NHL if they are good. Minneapolis/St. Paul is a great hockey city. |

He would go from a club that tries to win 2-1 in the Devils, to a team that tries to win 1-0 every night. Not exactly a place to go and showcase his offensive talents.
But hey, in Minny, he gets his money, hometown kid, and the undisputed "man" on the team.

I agree. I think the Flyers have just as good a shot at winning a Cup as Pittsburgh. Although you don't get many chances to play with a guy of Crosby's caliber. Giroux is a superstar but Sid is a step above everyone. |

Robbing Peter to pay Paul again. Who replaces Meszaros then? Are we going to have Lilja/Gusty/MAB manning two spots on the blue line? |

At this point it seems pretty clear that both Parise and Suter are not coming here. I think it might be time to actually start trying to improve our team instead of throwing 100 million dollars at two players that aren't going to come here. Start by signing Carle and then get a solid winger. Right now we have a lot of holes and I feel as if we are putting too many eggs in the Parise Suter basket |

Sure they are, But 12 years 100 million to a guy that doesn't play overly physical, and benefited from being partners with the best defenseman on the planet is a VAST overpayment. I would rather give Carle 6 for 4 years.
I just don't get blowing up the cap for either of these guys when you could get complimentary parts to shore up the team defense and be better off in the long run. I'm thinking Cap wise, developmental wise.
It is just insanity, and frankly I have NO IDEA why the Flyers are even in on these guys. |

from what I have been told: if it's strictly $$, Flyers get both Parise/Suter based on offers.
