I think you're too quickly ruling out of the Flyers, but we'll see. - LordStanley88
I hope you're right....I really want them to sign Parise |

I think your sellig them short. If some fans think they know better then the Flyers, then more power to them. I'm not concerned at all about the media or any other things like that. I ythink Bryzgalov learned from his experiences last Season and will be fine. Teams have a good understanding of the landscape and what's goign to be available, well before July 1. They signed Leighton because they thought it was the right move considering all the circumstances involved. If you think they chose him because it was easy, then I don't know what to tell you there. - MJL
As someone who agrees with 90% of all of Homer and the Flyers moves, I think I have the right to disagree with this one. I hope I'm wrong.
Bryz is a professional and I know he will be highly motivated to have a much better year. I hope he does, I know he can. If however he has a similar year, it is going to be ugly.

Bill thought he wanted a 4yr deal, which is a deal breaker for over an 35 yo contract
Probably around 4M per year? - Marc D
I want nothing to do with Parise. He can go rot in Pittsburgh for all I care. The Flyers need to be saving money for the young kids, and Weber next season.
If Carle is seeking anything over 5 million I'd be looking at Suter. If Suter's hit is anything over 7 million/season let them both rot elsewhere.
I'd love Doan. 3 years or less, or he can rot elsewhere. |

Twitter of course.....said it was narrowed down to 2 teams....so either PItt-Minn or Minn-NJ or Pitt-NJ - flyersfan51

See this is why to me twitter is a joke.
I could have told you that, and so could have any other guy. Of course Nashville is in on it, they are his current team. Detriot needs a #1, and Minny is a hometown choice.
Absolutely hate twitter. - flyer_nutter
Can't disagree. Thats why its all speculation until an announcement is made. The money thats being reported can also be false.
Although the guys from TSN are usually on point. |

not sure why him saying this makes you hate the entire medium
there are crazy rumors out there... so to hear dreger say that at least lends some credibility and potentially squashes some of the outlandish stuff |

I read (I believe on one of Bill's blogs) that he would basically ignore anything under 3 years. 3 years is not under 3 years....I could definitely handle Doan on a 3 year deal.
However, it makes you think- if Doan wants about 4, why not just bring Jags back? |

Know one.
Strickland said it was down to 2 teams though, didn't name them. |

Ryan Suter is narrowing his list of teams that he's considering. The Carolina Hurricanes are among the teams that Suter has decided not to sign with. It's not clear who is still in the running, but the frontrunners probably include the Minnesota Wild, Detroit Red Wings, and Nashville Predators.

Doan was a warhorse in the playoffs this season.
Jagr started to break down and be useless. I'd be going with Doan all the way. Also adds the toughness the Flyers need up front. If the Flyers add Doan I do not think they need another man to fill out the bottom 6.
If they do not, I think they need a defensive physical guy to fill out the trenches. |

Jagr wasn't useless in the Penguins series, when he was compiled points in five of the six games. Just saying. I'd prefer Doan at this point, too.

Mixed feeling about bringing Jagr back especially since it sounds like he wants $4M.
I think he was great, but certain to break down a lot. |

The scary thing is. If Suter isn't signed, do you want Carle at 5-6 million for 4 years?
Thats horrific.
If you can have Suter for 7, Id go for the upgrade. There are times when a guy like Coburn or Mez have outplayed Carle for long stretches. I do not want to pay Carle crazy money. |

I'm not saying there isnt a chance to get Doan but if hes willing to wait until July 9th to see whats going on in Phoenix I would say they are the favorites to get him back. He wants to stay there. |

Bill, do you know what kind of money Doan is looking for? I remember you saying he won't look at anything less than 3 years, but I don't think you said anything about money. Is a 4ish hit reasonable??
By the way- great blogs in the last few days as usual. Thanks! |

Good point Bill.
However to me, the Pittsburgh series was so open. When it got down to a team like Jersey, and Jagr has less room to work with he struggled.
I think a guy like Carcillo could have put up good numbers if he played with Giroux against Pittsburgh.
Jagr scares me, because they lock up 3 million in a guy that could be spent upgrading the D instead, or add a guy who is solid defensively and a physical presence to the forwards.
