It's obvious that the flyers want a star for g so if we lose out on parise we will be getting Ryan or Nash - griouxmvp2012

They would have to make a trade or two before signing the players. The offers have already been made. - MJL
Offers are just offers, they can be delayed or rescinded. |

I wanted the Flyers to get Suter, but that contract is pure insanity. I'm hoping he signs somewhere else. - PLindbergh31
yeah, but Carle will probably get similar and I'd rather have Suter. |

Yea but we also have over 10 mill coming off the books next year and brieres contract the year after. So that's like 17 mill in the next two years plus you know the cap is gonna go up I think we would be ok. Plus he's an rfa we will not lose g he gonna get a mega deal like Crosby - griouxmvp2012
I read this comment, and it seems that it's forgotten, that those players have to be replaced. |

If the contract is 100 million the cap hit is going to be north of 7 million. How can't it? I like Suter a ton, but he doesn't warrant a 100 million dollar contract. - PLindbergh31
The money that is being offered is just speculation around the league. We wont know for sure how much has been offered until the player signs some where. |

How we have like 12 mill in space and we can go 10% over they would make trades after they signed them if they both signed here which I highly doubt |

I still would be surprised if they decided to sign two more guys to 9 year + deals. The CBA is likely to change in some regard so a lot of discussion about contracts might be moot. |

Of course they can. But the point is that Cap space has to be created before signing the player. Not sign the player, then trade to create Cap space. |

If Carle gets similar it better not be with the Flyers. I agree if you overpay, you do so for the better player.
Can you imagine Carle going from 3.5 to 6? Insanity. |

All 3 aren't worth the Cap hits. The NHL Salary structure is becoming ridiculous. I think Brian Burke has it right. - MJL
It seems the cap has made things worse. What's worse, a lot of money being thrown around, or a lot of money for ridiculously long contracts?
I can only imagine what's going to be the result in about 10 years. |

the talk all along is that Parise would not go to a division rival outside of playing with sid and Suter wanted to stay in the west but I imagine the reason why the Flyers are still in the running is the crazy term and money offered. McKenzie had said the Flyers offered the most money. - nastyflyergirl
The only divisional talk I heard regarding Parise was that he wouldn't play for NYR. |

We have 12M of Cap space for the Season. They don't have that space for the Off Season. |

It doesn't matter anyways parise and suter aren't both coming here and I honestly don't think either is but we have a better shot at suter then parise I think |

I think he's going to get 6 somewhere.....Garrisson got 4.6!! Wideman 5.25....wow - Carle is better than both. |

Gun to my head Suter. Because he's the best of the three players by a good margin. |

Yeah, nothing is set in stone until contracts come into the picture.
As far as signing both, then trying to make room under the cap after the fact... we know too well from past experience that those kinds of trades return only pennies on the dollar -- Roenick and Gagne come to mind. |

Not saying it cant be true just saying we wont find out until they sign the deal. Your paying now for that cap hit but 5-7 years from now Suters cap hit may be a bargain compared to other defenseman. |
