Don't these players know I have work to do today... how do you expect me to concentrate with $200 million in contracts in limbo???
LETS GE A MOVE ON ZACH AND RYAN!!! - Flyers2821
just imagine being them right now -- they call each other a couple times and they wake up prolly around 10 -- have an amazing breakfast and get ready to make the announcment within 15 minutes of each other....I bet they both already know. |
|
|
|
I think he's going to get 6 somewhere.....Garrisson got 4.6!! Wideman 5.25....wow - Carle is better than both. - flyersfan51
Just because other teams lose their minds, doesn't mean the Flyers should. These contracts are outlandish. I prefer the Flyers stand pat opposed to be reactionary and hand out a contract they will be looking to unload in a few years. |

I agree - I'm happy with our 6 the way it is -- but I'd sign another defensemen and trade for Ryan. |

The NHL needs to put a max contract length into place. I think around 5-7 years tops. They can't be happy with teams throwing 2 extra years at the end of these mega deals that pay half a million bucks to lessen the cap hit (i.e. Pronger and Crosby). |

arent you concerned about the lack of puck moving ability they'd have if they let Carle walk? |

If the Flyers sign Suter they have an all star caliber defenseman. He would be their best player on the blueline instantly. Is it worth the price? Not at first but a couple years down the road his cap hit will look good compared to other defenseman. |

Yeah it would be a concern for sure. But if the alternative is give Carle 6 million, then they will have to make due with what they have. |

I'm concerned about it. But I'm more concerned about paying 6M or more for a player who isn't worth that contract. |

The only divisional talk I heard regarding Parise was that he wouldn't play for NYR. - BulliesPhan87
Exactly. Some have speculated that he won't play for another Atlantic division team, but it is just that: speculation. |

Carle is a whipping boy now for the Flyers can you image if he was making $6M or more.

There's only a small collection of defenders past and present that can control a game to the point where they transcend the team-nature of the sport -- as good as he is, Suter isn't one of them. Weber is even debatable. With Lidstrom retired, the only dman that fits into that category fully is Chara with the way he dominates in his own zone.
Suter is a solid add in a vaccuum, but if it puts you in salary cap jail and you end up with holes elsewhere you can't fill, then you're not really better off as a team in the end. |

My guess is we will hear something by 1PM.
I'm thinking Parise still to Minnesota.
Suter to Detroit.
Let's hope. |
