If you had to choose one over Suter or Parise. Which would you take. I'd take Suter. |

Suter. He fills the bigger need. And honestly if we decide to go after Weber next year having Suter on our side could only help. |

The only problem is signing Suter now could take them out of the Weber sweepstakes next Season.

They'll be in the Weber sweepstakes no matter what. They always find a way to be in all the sweepstakes. I'm still a tad fuzzy how they're in these right now |

As weird as it sounds to say, I think Suter is the less likely of the two to sign here. I think both are absolute pipe dreams, and in the end this wild goose chase for two players that never really had any plan on signing here will hurt them. I agree to with Toc, go after Doan or another complimentary winger and sign Carle. Get aggressive with Weber next year when you have the cap space and other needs are less apparent. |

But with Kimmo coming off the books that clears most of the room. You might need to get a little creative but I hardly see them being out because they sign Suter. |

parise had 69 points last season. granted, he had the ACL injury the year before, but was still a -5 this season. playoffs, 8 goals 7 assists -8 in 24 playoffs games. good, but hardly great.
these contract offers are a joke. - murdoch
The market is what the market is but Parise is a bonafide top-shelf player, imho. |

Today, yes, I agree. The defense needs are greater than the offense needs at this time.
Were I starting a team today and those were my only choices as a first pick, I'd pick Parise. |

agreed. think his numbers would have been better had he not mostly played with kovalchuk, actually. he took almost 100 less shots this year than in 09 and 10. |

Bobby Ryan and Weber next year.
Hartnell and Timonen come off the books next year and you make a monster push for Weber. |

Suter 2012 PO stats: 10 Games, 1G, 3A, -5.
Career PO stats: 39 Games, 4G, 9A, -4.
Not exactly what I'd call stepping up. - 77rams
But he plays in front of a goalie that is a sieve and a team that doesn't play defense...

Not sure what the price difference between Doan and Semin will be, but based on their age and talent levels -- I'd rather have Semin. He could be a great sniper playing alongside Briere. And don't let the stereotypes fool you, he's actually an above average player in the defensive zone (for a player of his skill level). |

Then use the Timonen's money on a forward next year. |

Only issue with Weber is... does he even make it to UFA? It is one thing for the Preds to let Suter walk this year because they made a full press push to sign him. If Suter walks, Weber is leaving as well... how do you just let Weber walk? You have to trade him to replenish right?

McGuire was on tsn calling him a coach killer, bad in the room, but I wouldn't mind him at a fair price...he can't be any worse than zherdev and he has more talent. |
