Maybe thats why they hesitate to come here. Flyers will always ice a good reg season team but will always lack a long term perspective (actually keeping those late first round forwards wonders after they sign them or grooming D men from the farm) or pay attention to some of the less flashy issues (team D instead of individual stats, making the Briere line more balanced instead of shifting him all over the place with bad defensive forwards) that produces success deep in the playoffs. They will create a splash, then fail, then throw more money. On and on it will go.
Yeah why give Jake 4 mil when we can get wreck the house by giving Nash or Prise 8? After all, why would we need a durable, strong, young player who was one of the best forwards in the playoffs, made the pp very dangerous by his movement on the right side, and is perhaps our best defensive top 6 forward? Who down the line could become a much better goal scorer? Nah, trade him! We want proven stars who we sign to huge deals or by giving way young assets: see how well it has worked out for us in the last 15 years!
Already G is the "best player in the world" ((frank)ing absurd). Soon, we will Mike Richards him. Hive him the C, put an overly huge burden on his young shoulders, tear him to pieces when an inevtiable slump arrives (how will two wrist surgeries affect him I wonder...). A huge contract and then trade will undoubtedly follow.
As for Lavy, enjoy your last year in Philly. - PT21
Parise on Briere's line could balance thing out a bit

On the trade front, sounds like the Flyers are upping their efforts for Bobby Ryan. -- David Pagnotta (@TheFourthPeriod) |

I wonder what these vague comments even mean. What did they do, change the offered 5th round pick to a 4th? |

In the pursuit of free agents
Holmgren has searched high, and low
he has searched far and wide
he has searched in and out
what is his tally? He struck out

There's always Jagr and Matty Carle, your #1 choices |

Flyers need defense on the blue line and the 3rd and 4th line not more scoring. Schenn, Couturier. Voracek and Wellwood are ready to break out on offense.

When the Stars offered Jagr that much cash, I wonder if he strained his groin running to sign it. |

My sources tell me Stars are also wooing Mike Modano to come back and center the oldest line in hockey history.
They plan to call it the Assisted Living Line. |

I like #68 but that is just too much. I think we can put that money to better use. I wish him well. |

Seconded. That contract is ridiculous and I'm glad Homer wasn't the one who paid it.
Good luck to Jags...now can we go back to playing "Dude looks like a lady" again? |

Dallas going with the 40 year olds.
Watch him get on camera, again, and say it wasn't about the money.

Devils have two 40 year old goalies and they went through the Flyers like poop through a tin horn.
I didn't want Jagr back, too much of an injury risk, and he was gassed in the playoffs.
Holmgren has work to do, two top 9 wingers from last year are gone. |

Can Hexy still play? Holmgren better dig up some 40 year old goalies if he is ever to beat the Devils. |

Absolutely, but with guys moving up, still need bodies to round out the 4 lines. It also compromises the depth. |
