There is no reason to trade even more assets to pick up crybaby Bobby Ryan.

McGuire was on tsn calling him a coach killer, bad in the room, but I wouldn't mind him at a fair price...he can't be any worse than zherdev and he has more talent.

Some people say he has more talent then ovie

Bobby Ryan and Weber next year.

Hartnell and Timonen come off the books next year and you make a monster push for Weber.

- Flyers2821

There is a strong possibility that Hartnell doesn't come off the books. And he is extended during the Season.

It's not just Cap space. It's money also.
- MJL

What do you mean? Flyers can easily spend to the cap ceiling every year, and they do. Money is not an issue for the Flyers. Maybe I misunderstood?

Disagree 100%. Bobby Ryan would be a tremendous move for the Flyers. As long as it does not cost them Schenns or Couturier.

I would expect the Flyers to spend to the Cap every year. But how many 100M+ contracts will a team give out? Giroux is certainly in line for one in the future. Flyers have a strong financial backing. But there are limits.

Yeah, I heard. His opinion doesn't mean much to me.

I'd take him for the same contract Calgary gave Hudler. (4 x $4 mil)

Oh okay I guess I missed the context of the conversation. Been in and out here this morning, busy with work.

Ideally... build the backbone of the team with Giroux and Suter/Weber on those long term deals.

Wouldn't it be something to have Weber and Giroux locked up for the next 12 years?

If you had to choose one over Suter or Parise. Which would you take. I'd take Suter.

Parise

Yeah, Doan's waiting to see if the Coyotes will stay in PHO. If Jamison takes over and has enough support, Doan could stay put.
- tangent_man

I heard they asked til Aug 1 to make a decision on that.....

I would rather have Parise as it does not mean you need to give up any assets and he is just an all around better player than Ryan is. However, the $5.1 cap hit for what Ryan brings is very attractive compared to the deal Parise is going to get.

It is an interesting situation that hopefully we can stop wondering about at some point in the near future.

As soon as the word comes down on Suter and Parise, assuming it is not Philly, the Flyers will make a trade for Bobby Ryan within the hour.

Bobby Ryan will be a Flyer to start the season.

Jagr on a one year deal doesn't count as an over 35 deal that stays on the cap no matter what. The over 35 rule only comes into play on multi year deals.
- Jsaquella

Completely understand that.

I was looking at by the end of term, they are the same age etc.

I think I would rather have Doan for 4 years than jagr for another year.
just me.

Doan for 4 years? That better be at a 2-3 mill cap hit.

You don't give Doan anything more than 2 years.

Yea I mean I am currently viewing Voracek as their fallback plan if they don't acquire a Parise/Nash/Ryan via trade. So to me, including him in the deal would make sense.

i'd imagine he's gonna get a lot more than that, right? he'd definitely be a nice pickup for that kind of money

this is a little off topic or maybe irrelevant, but wouldn't some players think about winning first and take a lower priced contract in order to let the team spend the money on other talent to help them win?
