Yea I mean I am currently viewing Voracek as their fallback plan if they don't acquire a Parise/Nash/Ryan via trade. So to me, including him in the deal would make sense. - Flyers2821
I didn't want to give up both....but we need a star for Giroux. we would probably have to sign another forward and Carle ( ) but we need one more D-man. |

Jagr on a one year deal doesn't count as an over 35 deal that stays on the cap no matter what. The over 35 rule only comes into play on multi year deals. - Jsaquella

this is a little off topic or maybe irrelevant, but wouldn't some players think about winning first and take a lower priced contract in order to let the team spend the money on other talent to help them win? - flyersfan51
Some do (Crosby). Most probably don't. I think the agents and player's union probably frown upon taking less money.

As soon as the word comes down on Suter and Parise, assuming it is not Philly, the Flyers will make a trade for Bobby Ryan within the hour.
Bobby Ryan will be a Flyer to start the season. - Flyers2821
I agree, and well still have 10 and 14.
Next year man, Weber and hopefully Corey Perry or Getzlaf. I wonder what those 2 think about Ryan being traded, if it makes any sense to them. |

Doan for 4 years? That better be at a 2-3 mill cap hit.
You don't give Doan anything more than 2 years. - Flyers2821
at four years, you give him something that declines rapidly in value the last two years which would bring the yearly hit much lower. something like 6-4.5-3-1.5 which comes out to like just under 4 per year.
if the cap keeps jumping at even half the current rate, that would be a reasonable hit over the last two years.
Do you think ray whitney is better now than Doan will be in 2 years? |

They should just take all the money they got on parise and suter and give weber a crazy offer sheet |

i'd imagine he's gonna get a lot more than that, right? he'd definitely be a nice pickup for that kind of money - FlyerMike18
I imagine so, but it doesn't seem like he has many suitors. |

No way I do an offer sheet for Weber. It's bad business. And invites reprisal.

he probably won't sign it bc Nashville will match and he would probably want to test free agency next year. |

I said it yesterday and Ill say it again. The Flyers need to get out of the expensive jewelry section of the store and head on over to home improvements.
These offers they apparently have out to both Parise and Suter are wrong on so many levels.
Please Homer, rescind the offers, and move on. Fill the holes with role players and character guys, save your cap flexibility, and let these kids grow as a team.

just an example for the numbers.
If his annual value is in the 3-3.5 range, he is worth it.
more duarable and more points than jagr. |

as long as the current regime is in charge we have to accept that they are willing to tear things apart at any time - iow, they don't do patience. |

I tend to agree with you.
There's a certain excitement to these big names, but what are the opportunity costs?

As weird as it sounds to say, I think Suter is the less likely of the two to sign here. I think both are absolute pipe dreams, and in the end this wild goose chase for two players that never really had any plan on signing here will hurt them. I agree to with Toc, go after Doan or another complimentary winger and sign Carle. Get aggressive with Weber next year when you have the cap space and other needs are less apparent.

you take the chance now that he will be.
and again, with cap increases, the cap implications for 3.5M in 3 and 4 years will be noticeably less than the cap implication now.
is he worth 3.5 annual now, absolutely.
That cap hit is worth about 5% of the annual cap right now.
With steady cap increases, it will likely be in the 3.5% range by the end of the contract. in todays cap, that is 2.45M annual.
that would be worth it. |

I agree -- Do you think that the flyers already have a trade worked out if they miss out (which I think they do) on Parise/Suter? I bet they have a trade for Ryan and a deal for Carle (please let it be under 5) and will be announced right after Parise signs with Minnesota. |

How could anything be a "pipe dream" when you offer the most amount of money? From all the reports out there it seems likely they will sign elsewhere but... a pipe dream is pretty harsh

"The Decision Part 2" probably won't be announced until Friday. We need more time to decide which ridiculous offer to accept. I'm tired of waiting and I'm sure the Flyers are to. Flyers will have to decide what the next move will be incase these two clowns decide to sign elsewhere. |
