I think carlyle has a better head on his shoulder on how to keep this team in line, play a more strong tough defensive game, take time outs when neccessary and to not blow our leads or the game and then lose for stupidness which was partly and surely ron wilsons fault for alot of the games we lost in those last dieing minutes and OT - Mapleleafs_91
Does Carlyle have the ability to turn our crappy goaltenders into amazing ones?
Because that's the main reason why we missed the playoffs last season

Then I guess this team should massively improve with Carlyle behind the bench.

yes blame the players when its the last minute of the game, wilson doesnt call time out when theres consistent pressure in our zone. The other team scores now its 2-2. We go to OT, the other team scores now its 3-2 game is over when we had the game in the bag and couldnt hold on for like a minute... yup blame the players alright. Or other scenarios like oh were up 4-1. Other team scores, its 4-2, next faceoff THEY SCORE again its 4-3.. dont you think you should take a time out to get our poop together oh no not for ron wilson... next faceoff time goes by oh its tied 4-4. Unless we're upgrading at centre no way do we move Grabs...then we'd be left with Bozak and Connolly (until he's on the IR) as our top two centres. We'd be the worst team down the middle by a mile. As it stands we're probably the worst anyway but still.

Wow..........kk lemme put it this way for you. Its last dieing minutes of the game we are up 2-1 right. Other team pulls their goalie. Pressure is on in torontos end.
Strategys of the coach:
Who is going to be on defence to withstand the pressure.
Should i take a time out to strategize and calm down the play.
Whos going to take the faceoffs, etc, whos going to play the wing to keep the lead 2-1.
Ron wilson did none of that, he had guys like komi on for the last dieing minutes or schenn. He did not take time-outs majority of the times he didnt. This is why we lose because of strategies and the lack of smart moves. Thats a part of coaching which comes in winning games. We get scored on game is tied, leafs are like devasted that we should of won and the game should be over, then we lose in OT since the other team is sparked up.
Time outs are going to stop teams from shooting on our goalies?

I know there is a lot of hate for Wilson, but I watched a lot of Leaf games this year and you'd have a hard time blaming Wilson for everything when he didn't recieve NHL goaltending on most nights. Nothing against the leaf roster as a whole, but they simply aren't strong enough to overcome some of those goals. Deflating goals. Doesn't matter if a timeout is called or not, if every time you ramp up to score and pressure, and attack, and pressure and then it comes back in your own zone and they shoot and its in, its hard to regroup. Maybe once, maybe twice, but after a while, it feels like an uphill battle.
If the Leafs had average goaltending last year, they probably added points in the double digits. The goaltending letdowns are the major factor into the Leafs failures last year. Everything else is just secondary. There is a readon why the expression "find me a good coach and I'll show you a good goaltender" is around. Its because it is true.

Ya Ron Wilson never considered who was going to take a faceoff etc etc etc
