Vanek + Ehrhoff for Bobby Ryan and a 2nd 2013

Ehrhoff is going nowhere. They didnt pay him 10 mil last year to be with the club for one season

- MCGUIZZY

And Richards, Carter, JVR didnt sign long term extensions to play 1 year of it

I think Carl Gunnarsson will tell you otherwise. He plays a tough game, but he can also contribute offensively. It also works that he's out there with Ennis because it keeps people from trying to take liberties with Ennis. They know Foligno will get involved.
- HonkFortheGoose

Nobody fears Brian Campbell because of the Umberger hit. Foligno pasted Gunnarsson, that is about where it ends. Foligno isnt a p*ssy but at this stage of the game, people arent going to avoid altercations because of Foligno's presence.

Im warming up to the idea of signing an undervalued Semin. Say what you will, but the guy puts up points.

The more and more I watch the Detroit Red Wings play, it appears their opponents dont fear Kronwall either.

Yeah, you have to go back to 2007 and 2008 for the last time he performed big in the playoffs

Those guys re-signed with their current teams. The Sabres went out and grabbed Ehrhoff. There's a big difference there.

of course, single out one year that defends your bias. Let me do the same.

07-08: 8 pts, 7 games
08-09: 14 pts, 14 games

To imply he doesnt produce in the post season is flawed, because he clearly has.

10-11 he had 6pts in 9 games which isnt too bad.

I know + - is sometimes a deceiving stat, but there are only 4 players ahead of semin in + - in last four seasons: chara, burrows, and the sedins

Its the most recent sample size and yours are 3 years old. By all means sign him.

he has the POTENTIAL to do well in the playoffs. the plus/minus stat is intriguing and i think we'd be more well rounded in scoring if we were to make that signing.

Looking at the single deal by itself, without a doubt. But in the scenario listed, the bigger picture, I think he would be called a genius.

Minus Pominville, Vanek, Ehrhoff, Sekera.

Plus Ryan, Parise, Stastny, Suter.

Suter is a better number 1 than Ehrhoff, Sekera can be replaced by a young guy. Parise and Ryan are better than Vanek and Pommer.

It would be ridiculous.
