Roy was a lot better defensively than you're giving him credit for. He's played big PK minutes here in Buffalo. This past season was out of the ordinary in terms of how he looked defensively, and I think it's all because of the injury and just not being in the right condition because of it. That makes it a lot harder to keep up and play the defensive game you're used to. What some people took as laziness, was more or less he just couldn't do it this year. - HonkFortheGoose
I buy it.
I never understood what all the Roy hate was for. Yeah, he wasn't great every game, but he's not a "great" player. He did, however, put up a lot of points and wasn't a bad pk-er.
IMO, I think that if it wasn't for those 3 or 4 pictures of him partying, the mood around the Roy trade would be different (or the Roy trade would have never happened).
That said, I do like the Ott trade a lot. I just worry that a big piece of offense has just left the team and is not yet replaced.
Carey Price now makes more money than Ryan Miller...
Price's contract is back loaded and will actually make 7M in salary the last 3 years.
Thoughts?
I think Miller is now down to the 4th or 5th highest paid Goalie. - JVince11
Tells me you don't have to do much to get big money as a goalie (*cough* Luongo *cough*). But at least Miller had won a few playoff series before he got his big payday.

doesnt change that we aren't getting production for what we are paying. - Goobacks
Miller struggled this year because of the concussions. Once he was right, he was fine until Lindy rode him into the ground. He's always been inconsistent, but I'd still rather have him than most other goalies in the league.

Roy was solid with the stickwork, taking the puck away. I thought he was pretty good defensively. My issue with him was just his compete level and his attitude - and I think it's reflected that we got a guy back who's basically the opposite.

that is actually very well written... touche
2nd half of the year he took his GAA from 4.00 to 2.55... it was 1.89 GAA for the last 27 games I think.

i never heard him say Hodgson? - JVince11
Tyler Ennis and Cody Hodgson head the Sabres’ depth chart in the middle, but they are both only 22 years old and have not faced the pressure of being a No. 1 center.
“We certainly weren’t looking and aren’t going to move Tyler or Cody,” Regier said

Am I the only one who think were okay at center? I think we need a star scorer, whether it be center or winger.

good to know...
i agree that I think we need a guy who is more well rounded of a center and has more NHL experience.. but they don't just grow on trees and come in excess.

I think Hodgson will grow 10x better by having a full offseason, camp, and preseason with the Sabres... if they are able ot keep him with the same linemates the entire time such as Vanek and Pommer.. then I think..
Hodge could be a 60 pt scorer.. 20/40
Ennis could be a 65 pt scorerr... 25/40
