Maybe G needs a playmaker on his wing as he's not such a bad sniper himself - JoeRussomanno
Agree that G's shot is very underrated (tho might not be for long).
I think they both need to have the puck tho. As it stands now I'd rather see Schenn on G's wing. At some point I'd like Read to be given more of a shot in the Top 6. |

So would trading Couturier / Vorachek, Read, Coburn or Mesz / Cousins or Laughton / and a 1st for Ryan or Nash.
Personally, I think they weaken the team even doing Vorachek, Mes or Read and a pick for Ryan. At that point either you're a two line team or have a worse D than we had 2 years ago, when everyone said we had to upgrade the D. - TheGreat28
I'm not a proponent of getting Ryan, Nash, or Weber.
Just saying. Never was....never have been. So yeah... |

That's not known. Just a couple of us feel like it would be good move (depending on the cost). |

Let me rephrase: I'm not a proponent of trading half of the core for Nash, Ryan, or Weber.
Never was. Never have been.
My mindset is this (let's concentrate on Weber because...well...Nash and Ryan shouldn't need to be discussed....): Say we trade Mez, Czech, Read, and 2 firsts. I don't even know if that's enough to get the guy, first off. So that is the "at least" level. Anything higher would most likely include Brayden or Cooter. If either of them go anywhere, I will find Homer and I will throttle him.
Provided I get past security.
Moving on.
If we go back to that "at least" offer....people say that "Weber is the kind of player that brings championships". I agree. I agree wholeheartedly. HOWEVER. Would he bring us a championship without Czech, Mez, or Read? Let alone those 2 firsts for bolstering us in the future. I'm not too sure.
Basically, I don't want to see half the team traded for Weber because of 2 reasons.
1. In emphatically plugging the hole on D, we open up other holes up front
2. I think the Flyers have a better chance to host a parade with Czech, Mez, and Read than they do with Weber.
Now, next offseason, when Kimmo comes off the books and we already have the space we do now- then it's all hands on deck. 120+ mil.

Oh..... I thought I saw a tweet of some sort that said management was interested....
Hmmmm....
EDIT: Circa pg 26 at about 3:10 today-
"Manayunk Mike is tweeted 2 minutes ago
'Amazingly, I've been told #flyers have "legit" interest in Alex Semin. Probably doesn't happen, but PHI considering all options right now.'" |

All I can tell you is, Weber is such a rare player that if you could trade Jake, Mez, Read and picks, you do it. Look what it did for the Flyers when they made a similar move for Pronger and he was past his prime. Weber would still have Giroux, Hartnell, Couturier, Briere, Simmonds and Schenn upfront. As for the d you basically just replaced Mez with Weber now look at how your d lines up. That's a pretty good team if you ask me. It's definitely better than the one we got within two wins of a cup as well. |

Jagr 2.0? - JoeRussomanno
Wasn't that one of the many accolades that was bestowed upon Jagr this year? Maturing Voracek into a similar mode of himself?
I like the Fedotenko move today. He's versatile and comes up big in the clutch. I could see him having a Talbot like season next year. |
