Wasn't that one of the many accolades that was bestowed upon Jagr this year? Maturing Voracek into a similar mode of himself?
I like the Fedotenko move today. He's versatile and comes up big in the clutch. I could see him having a Talbot like season next year. - bgratch
Thats how I took it with Jagr and Jake, yes.
I like the Fedotenko move too, adds good depth to our bottom six.
edit: also adding Rusty is a nice step toward addressing that team defense problem. |

Is Gervais better than Lilja?
That signing is hard to understand. - Marc D
Probably is in some areas, such as mobility. But I agree, not quite sure about that one either. We'll see what the plan is. |

i like both signings but i suspect they were both used to create flexibility to trade for either bobby ryan or rick nash |

I think either Voracek or Read, or both, are gone.
I think one D-man may be gone.
I think Ryan is the target.

Just like you may have to overpay for a FA you are going to have to overpay for him. If you can get Doan though, I don't feel like it is an overpayment.

I think not signing Carle was crazy. Only guy on the team that can pass behind the blue line.
So crazy may be the trend.
While it may be too much, I think those pieces are close to getting shipped out.
Maybe Jake. Maybe Read.
We'll see. |

There's a difference between overpaying and committing suicide as a GM. That deal is way past over payment.

I'd be happy to have a serious conversation about the Carle move. I wouldn't put any thing past the Flyers at this point. And I have no doubt that the Flyers are going to try and make some other moves.

when was this accomplished by said player? Also it ain't much good if he's "cutting corners" defensively allowing a considerable amount going back the other way. |

I think everyone here would like Doan, myself included, for 2 - 3 years.
Problem is, it doesn't seem likely. Just like Parise and Suter didn't seem likely.
For all the crap I got on here about Parise and Suter not signing for $$$, it turns out to be dead on right.
The word on here is Doan will stay in Phoenix if there are no franchise issues. I tend to believe that. Hope I'm wrong.
Someone mentioned about Pronger coming back. I don't think he would have moved if that was the case. I guess an interesting story would be if he came back the following year. Again, not likely IMO but who knows. A lot can happen. |

They both signed deals for $ 98 Million. They didn't sign for money?

No use debating the past. He's gone. You may not like it, I may not like it, but Carle is gone.
In 7 out of 10 matchups, I still think the other team is more concerned about matching up against us than vice-versa.
Part of what I am anticipating is that the Flyers accept less offensive depth and use what I will call more of a checking line - Tablot Coots and Rusty.
I think Schenn will be on the wing this year and hopefully show what he did in the playoffs. I think he has an attitude that I like but can't wait to see more.
Simmonds may be starring in the sequel to the 1980 movie - my Bodyguard. Protecting Briere.
Harts G and Ryan doing the damage.
Time will tell. |

You could look at it that way, but that would be an incorrect way to look at it, in my opinion. Doan is a UFA and has nothing to do with the proposed Ryan deal.
Voracek, MAB, and a 1st, is overpaying for Ryan. Throwing in Read, would be pure stupidity. Ryan isn't close to being that good of a player.
