I like Laughton. Keep the kid.

Just for a reminder, Carter got the Flyers a 1st and Voracek.

Voracek who was for the most part kind of a risk.

Is Ryan that much better than Carter? Ryan's defensive game is questionable, he wouldnt even be on my radar.

For Weber I absolutely would include one of them.
- MJL

I maybe include one of the Schenns, I probably wouldn't trade Couts. I see G and Couts as the 1/2 C's for this team going forward. It'd have to be in the right package. I'm absolutely in love with the way Couts plays, and he's 2 months older than me.

o man, how about they give us a first as well, we are giving them a D man we don't want anymore or whom will never play a significant role here.

Imo yes.

Although I think Anaheim would laugh at you.

There are teams like Winnipeg for example that probably should overpay for a guy like Ryan. In terms of the Flyers, with question marks on D and the overall defensive game of the team..

Ryan isn't a guy I would be really targeting, or overpaying for.

Go sign Doan.

Cooties is an amazing player, but he is also the player that might swing Weber the Flyers way.

If it came down to it, I would overpay, and trade anyone on the roster for Weber outside of Giroux.

With Giroux and Weber the cornerstones of the team, you build around them.

another over 35 multi year contract? eeeeeeeeehhhhhh.

All in a sudden a 24 year old 4 time 30 goal scorer isn't good enough for us, like they are all over the league?

Overpayment was Parise & Suter.

Couturier and B Schenn are both going to be really good players for the Flyers in my opinion. But they won't be, in my opinion, Superstar players. Weber is a superstar, and arguably the best player at his position in the League. And the price will of course be very high. A player of Weber's ability at his position, is immensely difficult to get. It would be foolish to pass up the opportunity to acquire Weber because you didn't want to include one of Couturier or B Schenn.

It would sting until Weber jumped over the boards in a Flyers sweater and manhandled guys. We'd forget about whatever was moved in the trade pretty quick.

It didn't take long to get over Lupul and Sbisa

I'd take a gamble on Doan for 3 years.

I understand why people want Ryan. He would help the team. However I think assets and cap space could be better used in other ways. Ryan will not help the defensive game of the team nor the question marks on D.

Guys like Zherdev, Semin, and Kovalev all/were are capable goal scorers. I hate them all.

I would consider the package if it was Coburn, Schenn, a 1st, prospect. Couts no way. But the first scenario I would seriously consider.

I'll put it this way.

We would all have killed for a chance to get a young Pronger.

You have that opportunity possibly now, or next season. Except this time his name is Weber. As good as Cooties and Schenn may/will become you imo make that trade. Even if it takes both of them.

I would make that trade even more so because after Kimmo retires the Flyers have nothing close to a real #1 d-man. Or a powerplay QB. Weber will win a Conn Smythe one day. He should do so on the Flyers.

we get by defensively with Briere, don't ever mention his lac of back check on here, he scores like a beast in the playoffs.

Earlier some touched on "projection" of certain players, Ryan with Giroux would no longer be a 30 goal scorer, he could be a 40 goal scorer for many years to come.
Having 4 under 24 year old centers & no 40 goal scorer? As well, Ryan is young.

Again, why trade for Weber when Suter just got 100 million? He. Is. Going. To. Test. The. Market. Don't sell the farm When you don't have to.

That would be the big question. I do agree with you that I would wait till free agency next season.

You may not even have to give up some of the kids to get him.

However... I wouldnt hesitate to make a move for him. Nobody knows if the Flyers really did offer up more money than Minny. However, I think it really should be clear to the organization that no matter how much money the Flyers throw at Weber he may sign elsewhere.
