We would all have killed for a chance to get a young Pronger.
You have that opportunity possibly now, or next season. Except this time his name is Weber. As good as Cooties and Schenn may/will become you imo make that trade. Even if it takes both of them.
I would make that trade even more so because after Kimmo retires the Flyers have nothing close to a real #1 d-man. Or a powerplay QB. Weber will win a Conn Smythe one day. He should do so on the Flyers. - flyer_nutter
I'd do this deal for Weber:
Couturier, Meszaros, Cousins, and two 1sts
For
Weber
It may be a lot , but Weber is a player you give up a lot to acquire. Only untouchables on a Weber to Philly deal (at least for me) is Giroux and Brayden Schenn
Again, why trade for Weber when Suter just got 100 million? He. Is. Going. To. Test. The. Market. Don't sell the farm When you don't have to. - hereticpride
Nashville will not let him get to the market. They can't afford to do it. Whether its this summer or the trade deadline. I dont think Weber will string them along letting them think they have a chance.

And the Flyers made an offer to Suter? Did they get him?

OK I make basically any trade for Weber that doesnt include Coots or Giroux....I love Coots man - Just5
I do too. He has shown great ability. He was matched up against the best players, and did well.
If it ever came down to a time where Nashville was looking to deal Weber's rights. Every team in the league would put in an offer. An offer that has Cooties might just jump to the top.
After what happened with Suter this season I think Nashville will try to know if Weber plans to test the market. They will try to get something for him and rightfully so.
He could go Hamhuis and not sign with the team that trades for his rights. Or he could go the way of Kimmo/Hartnell/Bryzgalov and sign with Philly. You would hope Nashville would allow the Flyers to talk to him before and basically have a contract printed and ready.

They should shop him now, the longer they wait the smaller the package

Weber wants Nashville to spend. Its well documented. They haven't. And at this point Semin and Doan are the only "names" left. Too little too late.
Someone give me one good reason why his agent won't have him test the market...
Don't start trading away our core for him, it's our biggest asset that could sway him here.
And MJL, I like to think everyone is different. Weber has never said he doesn't want to play in the East for one.
You are talking to a guy who walks away from a blackjack table after winning 10$.
In the end its just a website. People take it too seriously sometimes. Not directing at you or anyone in particular. Just have fun with it. - flyer_nutter
I agree. So the bet should be easy for at least one person to take. I'm not asking for an arm.

To me, Couturier is off limits no matter what. That kid is gonna be one of the best defensive forwards this league has ever seen. - Flyers2821
Do not get me wrong, I love the kid. Only in a deal for Weber would I consider giving him away.
A guy like Phaneuf had sky high expectations after his start in the league.
JVR had a glorious playoffs last season.
Different scenerios definately. I just wouldnt be willing to lose out on Weber because Cooties may or may not become a top guy. Weber currently is a top d-man, if not the best in the league. He is also young.
