so anyway... No Semin unless its short term, Plz try to get Doan and or weber and plz by all that Bernie Parent deems holy do not overpay for Ryan ( i think Nash is a pipedream at this point.) - JoeRussomanno
You didn't want to trade for Ryan but your willing to blow the team up for Weber? I love Weber but why overpay now when he hits the market next summer?

What if he doesn't hit the market? What if he gets traded and signs a long term deal?
I wouldn't trade for Ryan either, not what the Ducks supposedly want, anyhow

okay here's the deal with Weber. He's a rare player. One that on the right team definitely puts them over the top. See what having an aging Chris Pronger did in 2010. Ryan isn't as rare a player. Furthermore defensemen are far more critical to your team and Weber imo is the best there is in the league. Forwards are more easily attainable. Ryan is a really good player but he's not that rare or bringing anything the Flyers don't already have that Id need to pay a huge price for.
he's definitely got talent. I'd try a one year deal for sure to see what happens. Hell maybe he becomes the Mezaros of our forward corps. - JoeRussomanno
He'll be Zherdev with a bigger cap hit and 10 more goals. No.

I think Ryan becomes a Flyer in 2-3 years anyway. That's another reason I don't want to trade for him. But hell if the ducks wanna take something like a 2nd rounder maybe MAB and Cousins okay then. otherwise not trying to give up multiple roster players and high draft picks.
Ryan is a very good player, but the guys we have to trade for him are almost s good and cheaper. No way I trade for Ryan unless it's for something like Reed, Wellwood and picks.

If I'm Weber I hit the market. He's more likely to get whatever he wants an the overpayment will be ridiculous. Makes no sense to sign after a trade unless that team pays him 10m plus for 13 years or more.

I love Weber and I agree with your post. However he's one player and your losing alot and he's going to eat up a ton of cap space. Maybe he does help their chances to win but it's not guaranteed. By the way Flyers needed a shoot out win to just get in that year with Pronger. Just saying. I'm not against getting Weber but in hockey it takes a team to win and one player is going to cost you a lot of young talented players and possible picks.

Generally I don't like to do that but this is a rare case where I would begrudgingly do it.

I think Howson (frank)ed the pooch with Nash. I think teams are not going to give him what he wants and now they will wait for him to crack. He had his chance and, quite frankly, he blew it when he could of sold high.
