I'd offer Jake, MAB, Cousins/Laughton, and a 2013 1st for Ryan. If that's rejected, then, well, it was nice talking to you Murray.
Signing Doan after that would be prudent as well, but as I've said, I don't see him leaving. He'd be a huge hit here if he were to sign that's for sure. |

I realize that, but 10 and 14 are untouchable. Homer won't move those guys for basically anyone. - LordStanley88
I think only G is really untouchable. Schenn is less likely to get traded now with his brother here. Who else would another GM want in a deal if they are giving up a top all-star?
And I think Holmgren tends to blink first. Ex: most of us, including Bill, thought there should have at least been a pick coming from from Tor in JVR trade, but Burke out-waited him. |

Fehr's skating and health have always held him back... he's got silky hands and a sniper's eye, but he really has trouble 5v5. - Tomahawk
Yeah, I remember him looking pretty good against the Flyers a couple years ago, but seems like he hit a wall with injury since then.

IMHO, Homer won't move those guys under any cirumstances. He wants to see most of these guys grow together.
I think he has learned from some of his mistakes in the past. |

yeah thought he'd be an option, but his underlying numbers are hideous. - OrangeBlack27
He'd be a guy I'd PTO during camp if he's still out there... but I wouldn't expend one of the limited contract slots on him with the hopes that he'd seize a top-six spot. |

I'm a huge Ryan fan, and I don't mind Doan either. We could use a big winger or two. Ryan @ 5.1 for 3 years is a steal. Doan would be great on a 3-year deal worth 5 or less. Can we obtain both? Whatever the supposed deal for Ryan would be... Voracek, Read, Gus, MAB, picks, whatever. Then sign Doan same day?
Also, hands down I'd prefer Ryan over Semin. However, Semin would not cost us any assets to obtain, Ryan will cost us several. If we're looking bigger picture here, but not throwing away the upcoming season... signing Semin to a short-term deal to play on G's wing, keeps the rest of the kids together for the entire year, we stay competitive, and have cap flexibility at the TDL and next off-season.
Just some thoughts. - Rocktane
sign him to a 3yr deal untill ryan gets to FA |

Right now Murray and Howson have all the power. Rangers, Penguins, Flyers at the minimum interested.
Also, I don't think MAB has any value for another GM. Concussions, plus late bloomer who was a step away from waivers at one point. Basically, same value as Marshall.

Pens don't have the forward assets to get a deal done with CBJ or ANA. You can rule them right out.
SJ will be in for Nash, but not Ryan. |

give up Jake, MAB and two firsts (basically) for Ryan and his $5 million/contract
but a "hell no" to just signing Semin (who is the superior goal scorer and better 2-way player) without losing all of those assets? Perplexing. |

Per @jaeckel, Blackhawks may be shopping 21 y/o D Nick Leddy (37 points in 2nd NHL season) or defensively sound Niklas Hjalmarsson.

I agree.
At this point, if you are Holmgren you are not going to get the perfect situation for the Flyers. Meaning, every scenario has some downside.
1. If you sign Doan, you probably will have to give up 4th year to pry him away.
2. Sign Semin, and risk chemistry.
3. Trade for Ryan or Nash, give up significant assets.
4. Minor signing (3rd line checking center), risk having too little offense and / or stunting Couts offensive growth).
5. Do nothing, risk taking a step back.
So what do you do? My preference, 1, 4, 5, 2, 3
But I don't think they really have a shot at Doan, so 1 probably doesn't happen. And I worry that the organIzation feels they can compete next year. I think they are two years away. Which is why I think they will bite the bullet and trade for Ryan or Nash.

I'm alright with that, good face-off guy. Wouldn't cost us a ton, we can bump Talbot up with Simmonds and Coots on the 3rd line possibly. |

Better 2-way player?
Jeezus, what NHL games are you watching slash can I have some of what you're smoking?
I have ZERO interest in Semin. He will get $6 million anyways. |

Nice. I'd switch Grossman and Meszaros, but otherwise exactly what I was thinking. If the Flyers miss on Doan/Semin, I think they should consider Jason Arnott on a 1 year deal. Also, I'd like them to at least kick the tires on Marc-Andre Gragnani. Yes, he's defensively challenged, but he's got the offensive upside to be a true PP QB. |
