He may not be new to the Canadiens, but Rene Bourque will be making his grand debut wearing a new number next season as well. Set to swap his No. 27 for 17 this fall, Bourque is returning to the number he wore for three seasons in Calgary when he racked up 75 goals and 148 points in 211 games.

Port Colborne, Ontario native and center Bronco Horvath’s rights were sold to Montreal by New York on Nov. 4th, 1956. He played only one game with the Canadiens in 1956-57 and scored no points. He was acquired by the Boston Bruins during the inter-league draft on June 5th, 1957. In 1959-60, during his final year in Massachusetts, Horvath finished the season 2nd in NHL scoring, one point behind Blackhawks’ Bobby Hull, his teammate the following season.
