i always liked doan, not too many players left like him in the nhl, i would be ecstatic if we got him, he fills the a major hole...imo he is the perfect fit on the top line with g and hartsey.
i feel he will get 4.5-5.5 for 4 years imo, and should be worth it, idc about his age because we need some older guys to round off the team.
hopefully danny b has invited him to sea isle, seems to be a good sticking point to play in philly. - mydoglicks
My dog licks my other dog. Maybe not pleasant, but a fact of life.
I've been saying on here for weeks that Doan should be a target. I think the majority of us here see a perfect Flyer. |

I think once Voracek is re-signed that will be it, barring an unforeseen trade. - PLindbergh31
Will see but I doubt Homer is done. |

Good point about passing the physical. With the way the Flyers luck goes sometimes if he was traded he would have a miraculous recovery and score the SCF GWG against the Flyers. - PLindbergh31
and probably keep the puck, that bastard. |

Not everyone is wired to take money that they feel they didn't earn. Some will, some won't. Have no idea where Pronger sits on this issue. - TheGreat28
If I was Pronger I'd feel as though I earned it. |

everybody offers up the canes as the example of the no name d that got it done, but frankly, they are in the vast minority. most cup teams have that horse on d and that's exactly why homer went out and paid a kings ransom for pronger. - isaiah520
No question about that. But that doesn't eliminate the Flyers from contention this Season. |

they weren't good enuf then and they aren't good enuf now. homer loves dmen, so I'll stick w/ my prediction that he'll make a deal for a puck mover between now and the TDL. - isaiah520
Why aren't they good enough now? It's not exactly going out on a limb that Holmgren is going to be looking at making a deal to bolster the team in the future. |
|
|
|
your read is equally plausible, but I don't like the value on our side...needed a little more coming back. - isaiah520
fair enough. from what i know of him, which is admittedly much less than homer and his scouts know (hopefully ), schenn definitely has some improving to do for the flyers to get the better of this deal. i don't think that's a crazy expectation, however, with a 22 year old
but, time will tell |

Also, just passing this along from ESPN:
"If they don't get positive feedback from their captain in the next few days, the Nashville Predators may have little choice but to trade Shea Weber. The Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Blackhawks, Vancouver Canucks, and Philadelphia Flyers are all assumed to have hearty interest in the top-notch defenseman."

I think the best option right now to play with Giroux is Briere. Let him play full time on the wing, and sign a defensive minded center who can win faceoffs and kill penalties. - PLindbergh31
are there any out there?? |

I like it overall. I somehow would get Rinaldo in there. I really like what he brought in the last playoff game. That no quit and punish everyone really gained my respect.
I also think Schenn will somehow end up on the second line. I predict a new top line winger will be there, and Read will be gone. But again, I like the lineup projection and our team.
Mez and Schenn may flip spots as well.

Weber is getting overrated. I would offer no more than Read, Gus, and a 3rd round pick. |

I know Talbot scored 19 last year....but I don't see that happening again. I'd like to get one more scoring forward.

they would never take that trade. |

Is this legitimate??
Regardless, I'm not sure we have the forward depth to offer up to Nashville's demands anymore. Maybe Jake, Meszy, Cousins, and 2 1sts? |

I think we lost some punch in JVR and Jagr, but still like this team.
I am counting on Schenner, Couts, Read, Simmonds, Voracek, etc... to be that much better this year to make up for the losses. And I also think Briere can't possibly have a worse regular season than last year.

Signing Doan gives us more flexibility to pursue a trade either for a d-man or forward, but I'm not even sure Homer makes a deal at this point. It might not come until around the deadline. |
