Signing Doan gives us more flexibility to pursue a trade either for a d-man or forward, but I'm not even sure Homer makes a deal at this point. It might not come until around the deadline. - LordStanley88
It gives you flexibility player wise, but not Cap wise. |

Also, just passing this along from ESPN:
"If they don't get positive feedback from their captain in the next few days, the Nashville Predators may have little choice but to trade Shea Weber. The Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Blackhawks, Vancouver Canucks, and Philadelphia Flyers are all assumed to have hearty interest in the top-notch defenseman." - LordStanley88
And then the REAL summer sweepstakes can begin |

If you trade players, you lose their cap hit as well.
Unless I am misunderstanding your comment... |

Well, that's what I was implying.
Cap-wise I feel like they could make it fit regardless of who they pursue. The financial flexibility isn't the problem, the depth is. If Nashville wants 2 forwards for Weber, let's say Jake and Read, I don't think the Flyers can afford to lose both of those guys given the losses of JVR and Jagr. Do you agree? |

I'd like to see Schenn get a shot with his roomate if the team stays as is. Seguin thrived on the wing on the 1st line for the Bruins (w/ a playmaking center nonetheless) this past year when given the chance. |

If you sign Doan, as you said, the financial flexibility absolutely could be a problem. |

No, it wouldn't because guys like Jake, Meszy, etc. would be going the other way. |

You forgot Leighton.
I'd be interested in seeing Sestito getting some ice time. If he could play with an edge to his game w/o too many penalties - it might be nice on the 4th line. And, I thought I read somewhere that Fedotenko can play center... Rinaldo/Fed/Sestito for rougher opponents and swap in Wellwood for softer opponents. This is incase the Moore thing doesn't work out, or we pick up Doan - thus bumping Talbot back to the 4th line. |

Homer drafted a d-man in 1st of the 2008 draft. Unfortunately, he was traded. |

To be perfectly honest with you, I loathe Sestito. Guy can't keep his emotions in check. |

I also posted this time last yr that homer needed to get out in front of this when they had more assets to trade. |

If last year is any indication... Lavy had (when Jagr and JVR was out);
Hartnell - Giroux - Voracek
Schenn - Briere - Simmonds
Talbot - Coots - Read
Does Fedotenko crack the top 9? He played 4th line with the Rags. I could see him swapping with Talbot.

I'd almost rather trade extra assets for Ryan or a forward and then go after Enstrom in FA rather than going all out for Weber. It's a tough call though. |
|
|
|
If the Flyers do stand pat, Enstrom should become a prime trade target around deadline time.
The ideal replacement for Kimmo. |

Why?
Pro's; He's huge (6'5"/ 228lbs) and uses his size, his staking isn't too bad for the size, He goes to the net, plays aggressively, He fights/sticks up for others
Con's; Inexperienced, He's going to make mistakes (ie. taking bad penalties). |
