I agree, I just dont want to loose alot of the young guys we have for him. I think if Weber doesnt sign the fan base will be very pissed at Polie and id make a bet that Weber is on his way out. Polie has to un-(frank) this mess before it gets worse - bigmookalookie
That's why u don't sign lazy Russian snipers. They tank teams. |

Weber will be skatingin the Red and White. He said so himself in the summer of 2008. If he ends up anywhere besides hockeytown I would be shoked. - JPlatt915
It was Suter to Detroit and Parise to Pitt as well early on. Things tend to change in a hurry. |

We all know that Schenn or Courturier would be the main pieces, but Nashville losing Suter for nothing & really, I know Poile drafts D men like no other, but when Weber is gone he really doesn't have shi$ left on the back line, and how can a team stay competitive in a non hockey market, (yes they do have a fan base, but only because they were winning), getting back young kids hat will take a few years.
As well, what team wants to hand over a Courturier foa a 1 year Weber?
Say Poile can request Bieksa & Edler, (if Edler is signed) just an example, but then you run into signed players having no movement clauses, etc, so it would take some digging on his part. |

let weber go to vancouver next summer, then sign edler and enstrom - FlyerMike18

It wouldnt suprise me at all. They need a Lindstrom replacement, who better than Weber to replace him. - bigmookalookie
And we as well with Pronger.
All the offers will be pretty well even. It'll come down to, like the last circus show, where Weber wants to play. |

Bingo..... In any scenario. Weber really has free reign come next summer. Any decent team would accommodate him if he wanted to Play there |

true, this summer might get a bit more crazy with Weber not wanting to ink a long term deal. I agree the fan base will be upset if both Suter and Weber are gone. Should be fun times in Nash for sure lol, be their boards should be fun to read to say the least |

I mentioned on July 4th, theY were pissing acid in their boards, I think, really, this is silly, like they really thought he MIGHT sign once free agency started?
Come on, if he was staying, he would have locked in last year, plain & simple, and they think they still have a shot at Weber staying, really, with his agent saying "whats the hurry"? |

To me, this is all talk with nothing set to happen. Just hoping for Doan now. |

yup, still are pissed at Suter, throw in a few Wing fans and boom you have a party lol. I agree, I knew Suter was gone after he decided not to resign with the Preds. |

That ship had already sailed with Suter on it.
The only thing Poile can do in this instance is give Weber his best offer and a time frame in which to accept/decline it - well before the season starts. If refused, trade him for the best deal he can get and move on.
With all the young talent and high picks he'd receive, Poile could set his team up quite nicely for the future. |

The only way he goes to Philli is if the Flyers hire a new coach. He does not like Sneaky Pete and would never play for them. Look at the exchange they had after the game in Nashville. Weber had to be restrained, and after the game he said he had no respect for the way the Flyers are coached. |

Probably along the same lines as how players trash talk Torts and then thrive under him as players.....
also remember the Flyers have 2 of his ex teammates in Timonen and Hartnell to talk to him about how it is to play in philly, same thing Biron did to Briere and same thing Forsberg did to Hartnell and Timonen.....it is done all the time |

Really? (tell a Preds fan about that ship that sailed), they "are not over it"
Give weber his best offer? He could hand him $10 million a year for 15 years & he wouldn't sign, (my opinion, not fact of course), Weber is "rocked" by his teammate leaving that his reply is still, "I'm in no hurry"
I don't think the package will be as "astronomically" big as most feel, for one year & bye. |

I kind of agree with Bill, opinion wise, that Vancouver may be the favorite of signing him, the $ will be similar from several teams, & could again, come down to him "going home" so to speak. |

Doesn't matter what the Pred fans think. If Poile can't ink him real soon, it's a foregone conclusion. If they choose to live in denial, so be it.

Once the season starts they wont be giving permission for him to talk to teams, a distraction during the season.
would you give a huge package to them at this point for one year Weber? |

Poile and the Flyers have always had a good relationship. It goes back further that Timmo, Hartnell, Hamhuis, etc. His dad, Bud Poile, was the first Flyer GM. |

Depends what huge means.
The kicker will be if he is receptive to sign a long term contract after we acquire him. I haven't heard him publicly state that he will be unwilling to sign if moved. That will definitely affect my willingness to give up a substantial return. |

He's not committing at this point to anyone out loud, why would he?
He's earned the right to the "UFA circus show", and he will do just that.
Not publicly stating he wont sign, "but no hurry to do so" is the same thing, results wise

Remember, it is expected the new CBA will place limits on contract term. So, $98m for 13 years will be available this year, probably not available next year. Under those circumstances you have to assume that both Nashville and Suter will find a way to do this year what may not happen next year, including the possibility of a trade that meets Nasville's need and gets Weber's approval.
