If say the players get 57% of league income, and you raise ticket prices. League income will be increased. Both the teams and the players will get more money. But the players will still be getting 57%. While the fans pay more for tickets.
- MJL

So correct me if I'm wrong (god I hate financials, leave that poop to the accountants and lawyers ) but what I am inferring here is that the owners are just greedy bastaches.

Sometimes I think you guys just like drama. I'm saying this but not really saying that, but it could be that when it's really this.
- JoeRussomanno

So the goalie being a factor in a free agents decision is drama. Got it.

And if revenue increases by 10% and the players percentage decreases by less than 10% the players will still earn more. But they tend not to look at it that way. They think that they could have had 6 or 7% more of the 10% increase.

At least, that was the position the NBA union and players were taking.

Well, everybody is greedy (if that's the word we want to use) in this market of big money. To lack greed would be akin to bringing a knife to a gun fight.

Multiple players, on camera, alluded to the fact that the leadership committee talked to Bryz about various topics, which of course they did not want to get into. Briere, G and Timmo are players I watched interviewed.

Subsequently, during the March run multiple players made statements made about how well he was playing, how his focus was better, working harder in practice, etc. in response to reporters comments about Bryz seemingly responding to the talks with teammates. Obviously you can put 2 and 2 together to figure out what was discussed in the meetings.

- TheGreat28

All I heard about Bryzgalov was how he worked hard durning the all-star break etc... give me something concrete about players SAYING his work ethic. For cripes sakes I think even Bill mentioned on his blog about Bryz working extra with Reese during the ASB. People alluding to something and something being plain out said are two different things. The latter being more concrete and (usually by most logical people) accepted as fact, not hearsay.

Nah, greed doesn't really limit itself to owners. It likes to infect players, agents, concession stand operators and parking lot owners just as much.

yea it is drama. Especially when we are over-dramatizing how perceptibly bad the goalie is. Let's see a former Vezina Candidate-check, wins at least 30 games a year (one time 40 which the flyers haven't had a goalie do on their roster since Peeters) check, Hasn't missed the playoffs as a starter in what will be 4 years despite playing on a low-scoring team for 2 of those years check. Yea he's totally incapable of winning. Here's something a hall of fame goalie actually said and you can look it up he didn't allude to it, he just came out and said it "If you're good enough to do it in the regular season you can do it in the playoffs." -Bernie Parent. Okay I'm done arguing semantics with the TMZ crowd.

Obviously no player is going to come out and say, we talked to Bryz and as a result he is focusing better, working harder in practice and this has caused him to be better in games.

But it's basic inductive reasoning.

Player: Yes, the leadership committee had a chat with Bryz, but we really need to keep that in the locker room so I won't get into what was said.

Reporter: Bryz has certainly been on his game since those talks took place.

Player: Yes, he is really working hard in practice, his focus seems to be better and it's showing up in games.

So you can easily conclude what the talks were about.

edit: Don't mean to sound too smart about the inductive reasoning comment either. I had to look it up. Remembered some crap from college so I was kinda curious.

That has lockout all over it. Fans can barely afford ticket prices now with the economy. I agree with you.

He lives in a different world bc hes asking the moon for Nash. Hes one friggin player and teams arent going to overpay for it. Plus his cap hit sucks so why would a team want to give up all those assets.

remember when foxsports did the blueglowing thing to show where the puck was and was wrong like 20% of the time? You'd have to judge by what the players were doing to tell if a goal got scored. Now you don't do that you just see where the puck is 95% of the time. THe other 5% is when it's along the near boards and you need x-ray vision anyway.

60 inch & no HD?, (thats a first that I heard, usually a screen that big will have HD)

I'm wishing my (5 year old), 40 inch sony will die so I can upgrade, can't until it's dead.

But I agree with you, the HD makes it that I don't miss it going to the game as much either, but a few games a year is still ok. Just not as often.
