Daily News ran an article today saying they expect the Flyers to be serious bidders for Doan. |

RYAN UPDATE: If #Flyers miss out on Doan, I'm told they will pull the trigger on a Bobby Ryan trade. 2-3 Teams "bidding Ryan up". #Ducks |

The shine has definitely faded a bit from the Flyers' star. Players used to jump at the chance to sign here. Not so much recently. - 77rams
Well, Ryan and Nash both want to come to Philly, so there's that.
Doan, Parise and Suter wanted to stay out west for family reasons... no surprise there considering that they're all known as extremely loyal character guys... naturally they would take more things into consideration than just chasing the biggest paycheck and/or the best chance to win. |

What are this guys credentials to be recognized as a legit source? |
|
|

Yeah, just because Suter and Parise teamed up to join each other in Minnesota doesn't mean that Philly can't lure big-time free agents anymore. |

I don't even think it's all that likely that Doan even hits the open market. |

I think it is at this stage. Tomorrow is his deadline. |

Uhhhh he already has... But I get what you're saying. I seriously doubt he leaves phoenix. |

you missed Bobrovsky out, 2,4 & 4 picks in. Also about $12.5 million out only $6.9 million in. 3 picks and $5.5 million gives future flexability.
Well, in there's:
L. Schenn
Fedotenko
Gervais
Leighton
Out, there's:
JvR
Jagr
Carle
Not a good exchange in the short term. The Flyers took a step back in the hopes that B. Schenn, Coots, and maybe Read will fill in, step up and produce more. They're also banking on Voracek and Simmonds to have a better offensive year, for L. Schenn to find himself, and for Hartnell to replicate his totals from last season.
Is that a bit optimistic? I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Now, if we acquire Doan, I'd certainly feel better. Ryan? Depending on who we give up. Nash? Nah. - 77rams

Doan wants four years. IT bet 3.5+ cap hit. No thanks |

He really hasn't. Have teams submitted offers to Doan yet? I haven't seen it reported that they have. |

Nope, but he will be entertaining offers tomorrow. |

Also, it looks more and more likely that Semin will be going to the KHL.
"Pretty obvious what's going on with Semin," Slava Malamud, foreign correspondent for Russia's Sport-Express and an NHL.com contributor, tweeted late Saturday. "He has a KHL offer (from CSKA), wants the same or more in the NHL, not getting it. Won't get it."
He won't if the still-unconfirmed terms Malamund cited in a subsequent tweet -- three years, $30 million -- are anywhere close to accurate.

Id much rather wait for the right trade to come along. Bidding against trends trying to tech the cap floor means he's going to get paid a lot more than he deserves. |

When I was messing around on capgeek last night, I put together lines like this:
Hartnell-Briere-Voracek
Schenn-Giroux-Read
Fedotenko-Couturier-Simmonds
Wellwood-Talbot-Rinaldo
I was just doing it to see how they shook out, but they intrigued me a bit. I had the 19-48-93 line first because I thought it should have been tried last year, but I expect Laviolette to juggle a bit early. - Jsaquella
i like those lines but i'm hesitant to split hartnell from giroux after last season |

Don't think he comes close to that production again without G |

You have to add a tonne of capspace (for being the Flyers) to the 'In' part of your tally, especially considering what Tampa and Dallas are paying for Carle and Jags. I can live with that.

Agreed.
That's why I stated on paper it looks like a short term steptback. I'd much rather have Bobo than Leights but the picks and the money saved could well turn out to be positives. |

Just trying to add some perspective to THN article. If the Flyers don't utilize the saved cap money effectively, what then? |

I dont want to give up talented youth, but at the same time im growing tired of waiting for a cup. That being said aslong as it doesnt gut half the team we need that top six forward whoever it may be. We def took a step back from being a "win now" team this offseason. The future is important but i'd also like to see a parade when I still have some of MY youth. |

I'm surprised they didn't break out the whole, they still need a goalie etc.. Dear God.. I still get that poop from casual Leafs and Habs fans up here... FML>. - Hextall271
like those teams are one to talk, at least the Flyers made the playoffs. I wonder if Leafs fans even know what these "playoffs" thing all us hockey fans talk about each year |

I can only hope Homer gives him a good offer.. He would fit Philly to a T, (frank) it give him 4 years |
