Daman@f'ingliar reports that the Flyers purchased five lots in Vorhees and converted them to a horse farm. They already stocked the farm with horses named the bird, boxcar, and LCB. |

Well, Ryan and Nash both want to come to Philly, so there's that. - Tomahawk
Ryan wants to come here because of his ties here.
Nash just wants out. Period. |

Kane's an extremely talented player, had a breakout year. Still, his best season is worse than Bossy's worst season....and Bossy played that year with a bad back that ended his career.
Bossy was an absolute machine. From 1977-1986, Bossy's lowest goal total was 51. - Jsaquella
pretty unreal that he never won a Hart

In depth article from Micheal Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune of the process in coming to terms with Parise, and Suter. Very good read.
The article states Parise, and Suter's camp would call teams and let them know they were no longer in the running. From everything I have read Holmgren never received a phone call from either player's camp letting him know the Flyers were no longer in the mix. How is it possible that the Flyers had the top money offers to both players and were never even taken seriously? That's unprecedented. And not a great sign.

I hear what you saying about that not being a great sign but money isn't everything with some players and I respect that. Suter and Parise chose Minnesota and the Flyers lost out. The Flyers could have lost out on Garrison and would probably lose out to Weber. In the past, the Flyers lost out on other FAs too.
What makes me a little nervous isn't so much Bryzgalov but how agents and players view the Flyers in trading Richards, Carter, and JVR after they sign long extensions to be with the team. |

I never saw the phrase "in on" as much as when I started following rumor guys. It's usage is a prerequisite for being in the biz. |

Should Shane Doan decide to leave Phoenix due to the team's unsettled ownership situation, the Flyers will be one of his most serious pursuers. Doan would fit in beautifully on the Flyers' second line alongside Daniel Briere. Stay tuned. Monday is the day Doan has indicated he would decide if he will stay with the Coyotes.

Doan wants four years. IT bet 3.5+ cap hit. No thanks - nmbr4bborr
Doan will likely get a cap hit in the area of $5.5-$6.5mm. |

UFA's are eligible for NTC/NMC's. Carter, Richards and JvR were not. If a player is worried about that he can get a NMC. Homer gives them out like candy on Halloween. Even Fedotenko got a limited NTC |

He had 30 goals with Carter and Lupul. |

Tons of promise with this group of forwards. Next seasons is going to be really fun to watch them all continue to grow together. Extremely excited about Schenn as well. |

And right now, I am in. You can add his scoring without losing anything from the current group. |

as for this "they lost scoring" mantra that has picked up steam in the last week, because the Flyers added by subtracting an aging player and didn't overpay for two free agents, it's bullpoop. That was the biggest gripe last year when they traded Richards and Carter "oh my gawd they lost 120 points, what are they doing?" Instead they scored about as many maybe more, goals. In the grand scheme of things, if the team plays better defensively they'll be fine.
Ryan, Nash, and stamkos all played 0 playoff games this past season. Prolific goal scoring isn't the end all. The Flyers could shed 30 goals still be in the top of the conference in goal scoring. They finished 3rd in the league this past season and because they lost Jagr and Jvr who played half a season, We read all this belly-aching about losing offense. They're fine, they have enough goal scorers in the lineup. They need to be more defensive minded going forward. Have a nice day. |

One thing is for sure, the Flyers seem to do a very strong job of assessing what they have in their players offensively. |

Always hated him too, but he was a scoring machine. Also a total a-hole. Heard him interviewed several times since he's retired and he's a complete ass. Bigger douche than Potvin and that's saying something.
But you're right, he does love the heck out of his four cups.

Terrific player. It was a shame about his back, there was no telling how many goals he'd end up with if he stayed healthy. Wasn't upset to see him retire, though.
Now if only Marty would finally decide to call it a day. I'm dog tired of watching him already. |

I do have a lot of faith in the Flyers young guys to continue to improve. I also think that Danny Briere has a nice bounce back season.
While it seems probable that Hartnell remains with Giroux, I wonder if Laviolette will experiment with a Hartnell-Briere-Voracek line. I was actually surprised that wasn't a regular line last year, prior to Hartnell catching fire playing with Giroux and Jagr. - Jsaquella
I'd think of Briere on Giroux's wing. |
