Read, Mezzy, Prospect and a late pick would be more understandable, but still a lot. Heck it's not like Ryan is a 100 pt winger. The Flyers would have to think Ryan would be a 40+ goal, 100 pt scorer on G's line.

Wouldn't surprise me if the Flyers give a one-year contract to a guy like Jocehn Hecht or Kristian Huselius to see if they bounce back from injury years. Especially if they make a trade for Ryan

i'd like to get bobby ryan, but i'd go no higher than voracek and read straight up for ryan. i don't think the flyers should waste their time on doan or nash. i think we say it every year that they need a 4th line center who can win faceoffs/kill penalties, but expect this year to be no different (i.e. don't expect one to sign here). this offseason has been boring as heck, hopefully something interesting happens. atleast pitt has had a worse offseason than us, devils and rags too for that matter.

It's not like Ryan's playing with Peter White and Mike Maneluk out there in Anaheim. He's skating with Ryan Getzlaff and Corey Perry. And he's putting up very good numbers-30-35 goals a year 60 points.

Doan's playing in Phoenix, with lesser talent, in a defense first system and scoring 20 goals and 50 points, providing a ton of leadership and grit and a nasty streak that the Flyers haven't had in a skilled player since maybe the heyday of Rick Tocchet.

I'm not sure I'd trade more than Voracek for Ryan. I know he's from Cherry Hill, but I think Voracek could be a breakout player, who ends up being as good and valuable as Ryan.

As for the +35 contract, sure there's some concern. But Doan can really do a lot more for this team than Ryan can.

I think Voracek will be a breakout player, but he'll cost big bucks relatively soon if he is. If ever a player would give a hometown discount I think Ryan would be that player down the road.

there's just too many ifs with doan, if the yotes move, if he doesn't take less to go to a team he wants to play for, if the bidding get too high. there's no doubt that he'd be a perfect fit here, gritty, skilled, big, great character. i guess it doesn't hurt to ask, but it seems as big a long shot as parise or schultz.

voracek could go a bunch of different ways, but ryan to me is more of a known commodity. i'm not sure voracek is the player you want to put on g's wing, both are more pass first. which is why i'd like more of a shooter/ scorer like ryan. i've liked ryan as a player for a long time and think he'd be great here, plus he's young still so he can grow with the current youth movement here.

Voracek likely won;t cost what Ryan does now for at least another few years. I'd hesitate to move Meszaros right now for a forward because that means that 2 out of Gervais, Lilja, Gustafsson, Bourdon, Manning and Syvret are in the top six, unless another trade is coming on the heels of a Ryan trade.

Also, with the Ducks adding a couple of veteran defensemen, not sure they'd be in for Meszaros, especially coming off the back surgery...possible, but seems unlikely to me.

I wouldn't go crazy on Doan, but he's a better fit for what they need.

Keep in mind that Suter and Parise are both going home albeit at an elevated rate, not a discount.

Ryan's currently signed at a $5.1mm cap hit

honestly i'd be thrilled with either one. i just think it there's a better chance ryan comes here than doan.

I'd be thrilled with either, depending on the cost. If either one costs too much, I'd rather stand pat.
