There was a lot of talk during the draft that Jankowski would have been picked if Feaster didnt grab him, and further that many teams were hoping to give him another year, and provided he developed on pace he would have gone fast in the 2013 draft.
Feaster MAY look pretty SMRT if this kid pans out as some have projected him to.
Thing is, if Mckenzie et al didnt talk about him, then he must be garbage.....right? - noename09
Jankowski was a reach. It's a gamble that could pay dividends, but I'm not sure I would've done that given the situation Calgary is in.
A guy like Gaunce would've been a perfect fit. |

We have guys like Gaunce in the system already though. We don't have 6'3" playmaking centers.
I like the gamble. I just really hope it pays off. |

Definitely a bit of a gamble...but it also allowed them to move down and get Sieloff. |

In my mind you're not comparing Janko and Gaunce then though... You'd have to look at Janko and Sieloff vs. Teravainen.
Once the trade down was made then you're just looking at Janko vs. Gaunce, or Janko vs Maatta. |

Correct, but you have to consider their internal rankings...clearly Janko was higher than all of those guys... |

Yep. So the tradedown was definitely the right move. |

At least they are doing what they want to do...better than being "paint by numbers" team and taking the next guy in the CSS rankings. |

Exactly. If you're always picking the guy that TSN expects you to pick next then wtf are you paying your scouts for? |

For all my Flames fans...possible rumblings that the Canadiens are interested in Bouwmeester.
Not sure if there are any legs to this...but as Ive been saying, there is likely a lot of interest in Jbo and Feaster is taking his time. Jbo can still play some solid hockey and Feaster may not even want to get rid of him.
He has yet to see what Jbo can do under Hartley, however if someone is offering picks/prospects....you have to strongly consider this.
Thoughts? |

I think this is the year for jbo to prove himself or move on. If a more aggressive offensive coach can't him going. Move him at deadline
Problem is that would mean he has more value now.
If a stay at home d could be the return now. That would be worth considering. A bigger/solid d corps is going to become more important as kipper ages and an unproven player like Leiland or Ramos slides in

Sadly, we may see him prove himself with another team...at this rate, doesnt seem all too likely he remains a Flame with the amount of talk. Its nice to know, however, that Feaster may be remaining patient.
Will be interesting to see what he brings back...possible precursor for things to come? |

Anyone ever look into how often those TSN guys are ever even right? |
