1. i don't see Eller ever becoming more than a 15-goal, 20-assist guy (with an exceptional year now and then where he hits 20-30) . i just don't see it in his game. but for a third-line centre, that's more than adequate production.
2. Bourque had a reputation as an aloof, distant player in Calagary. i don't recall many Flames fans sad to see him go. it would be nice to see him back in 50-point form, but if this team is depending on that, they're in trouble.
3. PK is like a 12-year-old's Richard. he's on the verge of exploding. don't see him getting complacent. anything less than 6 years for him is utterly retarded. Bergevin seems to have enough foresight to make the right call. - DoubleDown

This.
But I'm willing to wait after this year before saying Eller won't be more than a 35 point guy. With some powerplay time and decent linemates.... he's still young and has lots of skills. |

Ask a Calgary fan how he got his 27 goals a year - Oilhab
Who cares how he got it.....he got it. So he doesn't hit, he doesn't fight, he still scores 27 goals a year. That would have put him on pace with guys like Vanek, Giroux, and a whole bunch more around 40th overall in the league.
He plays well defensively, and he scores 27 a year.......enough said. |

I don't think there's anything wrong with going short on Subban, but to me, it's just delaying the inevitable, and risking having to pay even more than what they would if they locked him up long-term now. It's really not a rush, but if you believe, like I do, that's he's shown enough to know what he'll be six years down the line, why wait?

He should consider changing this habit. He wins the fights I've seen him in. |

I agree with you EE, wonder if he would accept the same contract Gorges received.... 6 years around 4-4.5 per? |

EE, I expect Galchenyuk to play in Sarnia next season.
But what if he is ready and they decide to keep him??
Which center do they trade DD, Plek or Eller? |

He can but it's not in some people's nature.
Obviously we all prefer a 6'2, warrior who slams bodies, drives to the net, fights at will but that's not his game. His game is to use his speed and score off the rush. Maybe go 8 games without a goal and then score 2-3 in a game. Reliable defensively and still goes to the net.
If we can throw a player out there who won't cost you a goal and scores 27 a year I'd take that every day of the week. |

right. im not saying we'll lose him. i just think he'll end up costing a lot more in 2 years. still put up 36 points after a terrible first half. |

I'm not suggesting he turn into Chris Neil, but fighting more than once or twice a season would really elevate his game.
Bourque needs to play a bit more swagger in his game. Even if he's not likely to fight, the fact that he shows he's not afraid to do so 3-4 times/year will go a long way in developing that swagger. Just my opinion. |

They wouldn't have to trade any of them. If Galchenyuk does make the roster he would most likely be on the 4th line anyhow. Desharnais, Plekanec, Eller and Galchenyuk. Not a bad grouping of centreman in my opinion.(No I didn't forget Gomez, I just happen to think he will be plying his trade in Hamilton by the end of October at the latest!) |
