On the Hawks side, the trade does make sense.

They get a premier shutdown 2nd line center and a young stud dman.

They already have a very good team and the deal widens their playoff contention window if they can grab a goalie.

On the habs side, we get a dynamic forward and a 2nd pairing dman, but this weakens our very weak D without putting us over the top for a deep playoff run.

This teams needs to be rebuilt patiently. Habs are not relevant and won't be for a couple of seasons. Let our young prospects mature.
