Tough call, Ogi.......... Not many, if any, were ahead of me getting on Kane's case at the UC. Early in 2011 I started calling him Kandy Kane and to hit the other guy with his purse, and it's now a normal happenstance for many to do so in my section.

One really needs to see him live to see just how many shifts he mails in. But when you get an interested Kane it's a sight to behold.

I will go to bat for him when he was moved to center. I don't think he was thrilled with the idea but he gave a more than solid effort. But to ask him to do that over an 80 game time frame you're asking for much. He's a floater in his DNA, stay back and read. Can't do that as a centerman.

Is Subban a type that Montreal sees as an enigma, like Kane, but for different reasons?

Al, do your sources say that Kane is even talked about to other teams by the Blackhawks? As I mentioned earlier that is more important to me than any names being talked about coming back. Cuz if he is eventually moved much will come back, regardless of names mentioned.

We are talking about a talent that IF his ceiling is reached has the skills for a decade long of 80-90 points. Of course he could be in rehab too and be a bum. Therein lies the rub.

It was more a case of the second line took over as the first line. Plekanec was with Gionta and Cammellari (among other) the year before too, but injuries and poor coaching pretty much destroyed the effectiveness of the line. Cole, Desharnais and Pacioretty clicked mid season (Desharnais was Pacioretty's center in junior) and became the defacto 1st line.

That being said Plekanec is better suited for 2nd line duty. He's a very solid 2 way forward and easily Montreal's best penalty killer. Eller is developing into the same kind of player so I would be ok with Plekanec being moved for the right deal, but I would not be ok with them moving Subban. It already makes me sick to my stomach seeing McDonagh playing for the rangers knowing we gave him up in the Gomez trade

Not a bad top 6!! Are you sure Pacioretty and Desharnais played junior together? Pacioretty played USHL with Sioux City, remember him well. I follow the USHL pretty close, maybe 30-40 games a year, and don't remember Desharnais being in the league.

No doubt after the 2011 season the Canadiens played poorly last year. It took little to go wrong in a game last year and they went downhill fast.

If the NHL thinks that losing 3 months bickering over revenue percentages is ok, as long as the Winter Classic is a go, they will be sadly mistaken.

This hockey fan will be livid if ONE preseason game is cancelled.

Doans agent said there is interest by both sides.(does not mean much) I think EKolb can rest for now. Nothing about LU actually coming here. Said 50/50 the season starts on time. Really not much info. At least there was Hockey talk on Chicago radio.

Yup, Desharnais joined Hamilton for the 2008/2009 season and he and Pacioretty played a number of games together there

I think it is more accurate to say the Hawks listen rather than solicit....At least that is what I have heard.

It wouldn't take too long to get some great offers for Kane, he doesn't have a 7 year contract to deal with...

I heard the interview...I think it is common knowledge that the a drop dead date would be like Dec. 1 so the Classic can be played...He didn't say it would necessarily happen that way.

I agree it would be bad to cancel any games and I think they may accomplish enough in the next 6 weeks whereby the season could start on time.

If they go to a condensed schedule like the NBA did, you'll see terrible hockey and excessive injuries all season long, including the play-offs.
