PK Subban is a 23 year old big/bruising defenseman who not only projects to be a very very good defenseman but an offensive/defenseman as well - he's very good right now. Toss in Plekanec and you solve your 2C monumental issue. - CaptainBlackhawk

Hell no to that trade. Montreal would clearly get the better end of that deal |

Like people have said, he checks off a lot of boxes: hee is young, right-handed, big, mean and a great booming shot for the powerplay. But what I like best is he brings back the swagger. That is what is missing mostt. Plus, he is always involved. The hawks play A LOT better in more emotional games when they are involved. The way Subban plays the other team will always be pissed and engaged. Making the Hawks engaged |

Subban's a Richard. Don't think we need a goof like that in the locker room. - philco28
I have a huge issue with people (not saying you) that think top tiered talent is just going to fall from the trees for mid-tiered minor league prospects.
If people honestly with straight face think that a Subban/Plekanec/pick deal for Kane/Hammer isn't fantastic for the Hawks their true homer glasses are firmly affixed to their face.
To get top end talent - and both these players are - you have to give something up. The Hawks have forward depth and certainly would find someone to replace Kane - not his productivity but replace him. Someone like Doan.
This team is sorely missing a second line center, and a brute/defensive player coupled with a goalie. That's the reason this team hasn't advanced past the first round the last two years. It's not because they didn't have more of Patrick Kane. To get talent like that you have to give it up.

Tired of the non-action. I have a feeling Doan will tease us all and stay put. - philco28
x2. That seems to be the summer in a nutshell...Mutual interest reported between Hawks and Borodeur, Parise, Suter, now Doan. Seems like word around the league is that if you want to drive the price up on a contract by the team you want to go to, call Chicago. I am wondering if Stan folds to McDuh's pressure to make a splash and throws the moon at Semin. Here is hoping Chicago's roster looks better at the end of today. |

Shane Doan's agent, Terry Bross, said not only have #Blackhawks contacted them, but also that Doan has interest in joining Hawks.

And on that note I submit this, also with JJ's talk on the MTL/Kane trade. Get Winnik and Hannan BEFORE they are both gone and it's a good summer.

How is it not Toews like? If I'm not mistaken, wasn't he one of the guys who helped talk Campbell in to coming here?
As to the source, I believe it came from twitter last week. - EKolb13
If he was I didn't remember it. I do however remember seeing a Soupy interview where he mentioned Kaner was recruiting him at all-star weekend. |

Nice find, Roar. Thanks for posting................ It could be said that's exactly what the Hawks need. Grit, spunk, energy, refusal to allow the team to be soft.

Good points....Subban has all the physical tools no doubt, but his cockiness could be a wild card we don't need. I'd much rather have a great character guy like Doan than a young, unpredictable, ROCK THE BOAT dude like Subban. If Subban had Doan's locker room demeanor, i'd add him ASAP, but he's still young and wild.

the flip side of that argument is that the presence of Toews, Hossa, Sharp and maybe Doan might keep Subban from being that rock the boat guy. In MTL who is there to control the locker room? |

That's cause AJ's antics were essential in bringing a WS to this town and he is a no BS hard worker who wears his emotions on his sleeve and calls a phenomenal game. Way easier to respect someone like that then some super athletic chatch who can't put it together and acts like a prima donna...
The reason this team hasn't advanced is Sharp has made a habit of missing open cages on the back side in the playoffs. |

In his blog about a week ago...jj mentioned the Hawks would rather be spenders in FA than risk getting burned in a big trade. This seems to be accurate. Stanbow will risk being embarassed or getting out pokered with a trade. He wants to "assured" of getting the upper hand.
Still the Hawks have 14 forwards and 8 dmen. The boat is full. Adding anyone means someone(s) has to go. Bolig and Hayes are you 2 bubble forwards at least going into camp. Who knows who might surprise or contend in camp. Obviuously Saad, Morin, Piri, and Smith...oh yes ole Olesz (a 3 million bag of pucks) |

Good morning mr P
From what I recall at my old age, Big Buff got along with everyone in the locker room and kept everything loose.
there will be a deal soon so hang in there MrP |
