Given the news of Selanne re-signing with the Ducks, I started thinking back to the Ducks early days. Remember when they used to be a classy team? I know, I know. It was a lifetime ago.
So thinking of Selanne got me to wondering about Kariya, and this particular game came to mind.
A situation like this will NEVER happen again, but damn it was awesome back then.
Btw, I like those Ducks uniforms and logo a lot better than what they're wearing today.
According to Poile, he's been in contact with agents and teams etc. I wonder if everyone thinks he's in a vulnerable position and they're trying to screw him over because they know he's desperate. - Predaceous
Yeah, Poile is looking like a car struck racoon and rigor mortis has set in. Blood in the water - not a good position to be in.
You said it, I usually get flamed for making such statements (not you, specifically). The quietness is definitely rubbing some nerves. I hope he is working on a super duper trade of some sort. Doubt i, though... - Polecat
So we currently have 11 forwards and 3 defensemen signed. Where exactly is Poile thinking he is going to get another 9 players for this team? Shea, Colin, and I think even Sergei come back. So now we are talking 6 players. He could bring up both Ellis and Josi pretty easily...maybe Blum I guess. So another Dman and 2 forwards. Can we even hit the cap floor if he brings up rookies for these spots?
I really think Poile needs to probably take a hit on this season, trade Weber now for the best thing he can get, and start a short rebuild. He once again let ONE player tie his hands through free agency, except this time the player left. He has nothing to show for this offseason except for three depth signings.
Short term could keeping Weber be a good thing...for sure. The youth could once again step up and we find ourselves in the playoffs. I just think longterm that trading Weber is in the best interest of this club. Sure this year could suck without him, but....it could potentially at this point suck with him.

We actually have four defensemen signed. Cap Central has Josi listed amongst the prospects for whatever reason. I think Blum/Ekholm round out the 7th dman slot. Question is, who do they replace Suter with?

"I feel we signed the best player in this years free agency period....Chris Mason. The players which signed elsewhere will be lost production, but there were 15 other teams which made the playoffs without those players. Through the progression of our youth, I feel we will be able to replace that lost production and have another competitive team which we will see in the second half of the season."
