Not syaing Voracek is a bad player, im just saying that putting him on the first line is a bad move. That line needs a sniper more than anything. Voracek is great at handling the puck, its just that i would rather have giroux quarterback. i dont want giroux dishing the puck to a guy who cant score in a chineese whore house. Voracek would be better suited on the second line. - Philly1980
Look around the NHL. And see how many Forwards each team had that scored 18 or more goals. You'll find that your description of Voracek, "not being able to score in a Chinese whorehouse" is very shortsighted and innacurate. |

That line needs a sniper more than anything? I dont agree at all. It doesnt need anything. Hartnell had 37 goals last season. Giroux potted 93 points. Would it be nice to have a sniper? Sure. Does that line NEED to have a sniper. Nope, not at all.
Again, I think Voraceks skill set would be a fantastic compliment to that line. He would bring a lot of what Jagr provided. - jak521
yes that line needs a cannon...i dont expect hartnell to have 37 goals this year. |

It's not an excuse. It simply comes down to knowing what's going on out there. - MJL
it is an excuse....guys can redirect shots with pinpoint accuracy and were debating that a backhand on an open net is hard or not? |

I dont either.. but Id expect him to hit 30.. I could also say that I expect G to hit 30, and the other winger 20-25. That would be more than that line had last season. |

No, it isn't. Hartnell is a proven veteran player. - MJL
Proven as a consistent 20-goal scorer... an extension right now would mostly reflect this past season, which could be nothing more than a statistical outlier.
IMO, they would best be served holding off until next summer to talk extension with him. It might cost you a bit more in the end, but at least the chances of ending up with an indefensible albatross of a contract are greatly lessened.
Or capitalize on his trade value right now to get a guy that you know is good for 30-goals like clockwork. |

And you honestly expect me to believe you when you say you play ice hockey? Thats an extremely difficult spot to be put in and expected to capitalize. Puck bouncing on the forehand is hard enough... let alone reaching falling down and trying to put it home on the backhand... I think the funniest part is that had the goalie not made a ridiculous save.. we wouldnt be having this conversation. |

This is what I'm talking about. Actually there were 128 Forwards that scored 18 or more goals. But there are 30 teams in the League. 12 forward positions for each game. Do the math. |

Aside from the one season with all the personal issues..
Hartnell has potted 24 goals 2x, and 30, 37 the other two times.. Seems like when healthy (mentally as well) he is just as likely to pot 30 goals as he is 24.. |

No, I'm not debating that a backhand on an open net is hard or not. And redirects are a function of luck the majority of time. |

if redirections are a function of luck than why do they spend time practicing ...so it must be a skill, like shooting a backhander into a wide open net. |

combination of luck and good hand-eye. Needs to get through all the bodies, but knowing where to put that stick and watching the puck through is also important. |

Proven as a quality Power forward that brings more to the table then just goals. And it might cost you more then a bit more if he gets to Free Agency and has teams bidding on him. The only problem is getting Anaheim to agree to send you Ryan for Hartnell. |

Absolutely. But a lot of player can get their stick on a puck. |

Another problem is that by letting him get to UFA may show a lack of commitment from the team, further driving his price up. |

No doubt.. I have had the "lucky" kind of deflections far more often than the crafty/skilled variety.. and setting up in front is my game. |
