What an afternoon for that guy. Goes from sighting at prospects camp, to pro scout, to director of player personnel. He should be either McD's assistant or assistant GM by the end of the week!

it's a strange hire, for sure. the one positive about Gauthier was that he rarely traded our draft picks and never traded our prospects, and he recouped the picks he traded and even accumulated some extra ones. but his pro personnel moves were head-scratching, with the exception of Erik Cole.

You have enough info on the guy to know he's an awful hockey guy, and a bad hire?
Briefly looking at his record, it seems he's not done well as GM, but that doesn't mean he's an ignorant bum who can't contribute to an organization.

I'm not saying he's gonna get the job done, I don't know enough about him...I'm just not jumping to negative conclusions the moment the hire is announced.

I lean towards skepticism most of the time, but the negativity on these threads lately has been spreading like a virus.

Honestly, I don't. I will say though, the job he did in Montreal as GM looked really piss poor.

I think everyone is waiting on Doan. He'll only cost money. If you land him, or not, will effect what you're willing to do with the rest of your roster.

It's the "my star player wants to be traded, but I don't want to be the one that's ripped off in a deal so that fans want my head on a platter" logjam. I'm to the point where if something will happen, it will happen, no use getting up in arms about it at this point.

A guy can be a good scout and a lousy GM and vice versa. Other than that, hard to say.

The dominoes need to back to dominoeing school because they're not doing their job this year...

Because Doan is over 35 doesn't he have one of those "you're on the hook for every cent" contracts that can't be commuted in any way, shape or form? You'd think term would be a sticking point with a lot of teams.
