JJ - What do you think would be a fair trade for Pleks? |

If we are to trade Plekanec, I would expect it to be for prospects for long term. Maybe something with Teravainen which the habs loved. |

Wouldn't that hurt you down the middle too much though? It's not like the Hawks have a lot to offer at the centre position (maybe Kruger in a larger deal).
Who would be your 4 C's if this happened.
Just curious. - TyCamScore
My guess is, if they are willing to trade Plek (and that's a big IF) it's because they believe Galchenyuk is ready to play in the NHL next season. (I'd rather see him go back to junior for one year since he missed a whole season).
So I guess our centers would be:
Desharnais
Galchenyuk
Eller
Nokelainein or White
Nothing incredible |

Hawks were also "big" on Suter, Brodeur, and Parise. I still like the Kane/Hammer for Plekanec/Subban deal, but looks like that won't happen. My issue with a Hammer/Plekanec deal is: we gain a center, but lose a defenseman (a shot blocking defenseman). Any word on any other defensemen in the sights of the Hawks? |

His wife is from Kamloops
He owns the Blazers
Spends much of his summer in B.C.
Very good friends with canucks assistant GM Lawrance Gillman, and has openly stated that management is a strong factor in who he will sign with. I'm not saying he will sign with the canucks cut and dryed. But they would clearly be at the or near the top of the list. |

I officially don't see how trading Hjalmarsson for a forward helps this team unless you have a deal to bring in someone else that can top 4 minutes..

JJ does it look as though Stan is burning bridges with these other GM's by pulling the plug late in trade talks or do you think he really is doing a good job at not being baited into a bad move? - nickmo2699
FWIW, the source made it sound as though he is perceived within the organization as being too timid and too cautious—they were good deals and inexplicably he shies away |

Yup, and Raymond even though he just signed a reduced one year deal as well as Ballard are not high on the Canucks' list of untouchables. Gillis will move any or all of them. Doan checks a lot of boxes with the Canucks and his family is important too. |

I just posted this re: Doan on the last thread. Here it is again.
Doubtful that he goes to the 'hawks, IMO, and here's why. He lives off-season right here in Kamloops, his wife is from here, he runs a charity golf tourney and he also is part owner of the Kamloops Blazers of the WHL. You should see the size of the house he is building here. Massive. He has a summer home at a nearby lake.
What does all that have to do with where he signs. Well, Tom Gaglardi, new owner of the Stars also has a share in ownership of the WHL Blazers. It is also fairly evident that Doan will retire to this city when he's done playing, and he could sign with any of the Canucks, Oilers or Flames in which case he would be no more than an hour (as the crow flies) from home. He wants to win, so the Canucks would seem like the obvious choice. Failing that he may sign with Gaglardi's Stars. If I were betting, a)he stays in Phoenix or b) signs with the Canucks, c) with the Stars a possible 3rd destination. - djd
That's great info, but who cares where his summer home is...lots of players have summer homes in Europe, does that mean they are bolting fot the KHL? No...it has little bearing IMO...plus realistically speaking Chicago is only a couple hour flight back home for him anyways...
Plus he is getting near the end, and if Chicago threw more money at him then Van or Dallas, then why wouldn't he cash in one more time. It's not like the Hawks are that far removed from a Cup, and would be in contention again this year...
I love how you go from he wants to play close to home, then have Dallas and Phoenix as options for him, which probably couldn't be further from home, lol |

Sounds like why I thought Suter would sign with the Hawks. It adds up to the Canucks being players, nothing more.
Is Doan going to be captain? Probably not. Would he respect Henrik (or say Toews) more as captain? Good question and I think I know the answer. If I were Doan, I would be very concerned about the Canuck dressing room—sorry most Canuck fans hate hearing this but some acknowledge it—that he can't have much impact on (unless they make him captain).
He could go a lot of places. |

Shane Doan is Carey Price's cousin.
And we all know blood is thicker than money.
