More Class of '11: The Hawks' other first-round pick in '11, Phillip Danault (26th overall), also is working to improve his game and catch the eye of management this week.
After appearing in 62 games with Victoriaville of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Danault finished the season in Rockford and is looking to get stronger this summer.
"My shot, my upper body and my legs," Danault said when asked what he's working on. "I want to be better in the corners to win more battles."
Sign this kid to a big contract asap!! Love it when I hear something like this from someone so young!! |

No - McD would probably bury her in Rockford. |

good morning everyone !!
I still cant wait to see Bowman get booed at the convention
I still cant wait to see McD get booed at the convention
Dare I say , Rocky Wirtz get's booed at the convention ??
July 20 the convention starts , the Hawks will probably have made a move or two before then , hopefully .

Just curious... What do you guys expect from this team this season? 2nd round? 1st? I suppose it depends on whether we are able to pick up anyone significant (Doan or god forbid we pick up that Guido from Vancouver).
Just for shifts and giggles - lets say Crawford bounces back with a repeat performance of his rookie season: Legit shot at the cup? - CBHawks88
Depends on health of other players and anything can happen in playoffs. System, and executing on special teams will be significantly more important to their success. |

I would punch someone if they booed Rocky. Granted things aren't run as smoothly as possible in the front end allegedly but a playoff team the last 4 years, missed 5 by a few points, put them on TV for the first time in ages, now a relevant sports team in Chicago again, Stanley Cup... Kind of big things that I think are forgotten when compared to the disappointment the last 2 seasons. Not perfect but farrrrrrrrr from the dark times. |

I ask because Patrick Kane fascinates me. I would like to explore some themes that have been discussed recently, specifically 88 as "best passer" which Ogi mentioned (and I've been known to claim) and "best perimeter player" which I think Al eluded to the other day.
It looks like this team will roughly look the same as it did last year. During the frustrating Coyotes series it seemed to me that the few and far between chances the Hawks had offensively came when 88 had the puck. In light of the recent trade talks I'm simply wondering where the Chicago offense will come from if Kane is gone (WHICH I DONT BELIEVE IS HAPPENING). Also, thought he progressed in his limited "physical game" in that series as well.
Sure he makes some errors in judgement in public when he's drinking but as far as on ice progression I think he's gotten better each year at different things and think he is due for a monster year given some protection.
Oh, whatever happened to the Kane choking that girl story? Was it bogus? Don't hear too much follow up.

I really think he has gotten worse since the cup. I know people want a more well-rounded game, but to be honest he is still terrible in his own zone and will never be able to be a two-way force like Hoss or Toews or even Sharp. He makes a ton of money for one reason, and that is to provide offensive production. He was miserable at that last year (for his pay grade) and I think you overrate his individual importance to the team's offense. All that said, I really hope he turns it around and has a monster year like you said.
As far as the choking thing goes, the girl is a friend of mine, and he didn't choke her, but he did put his hand on her neck and push her away. Nothing that would ever be considered a crime, but something that made a lot of my die-hard hawk fan friends up at Wisco life-long Kane bashers |

I totally agree - Rocky is NOT the problem. I will go as far as saying I think he is still learning how to be the owner of this team. Yes, it has been in his family for a long time, but wasn't he removed from the team till Bill's death? He is surrounding himself with some of the best hockey minds (Scotty Bowman, Barry Smith) and successful sports marketing guys (McD, Blunk) to learn. He will improve things in due time. |

Rocky is part of the problem for the simple fact that he's allowing this crap to go on. In all, Rocky is also the solution, because he ultimately holds the power to clean out the front office. |
