From what I saw they were near the bottom in Corsi of the teams who made the playoffs that year...I believe it was written up on Puck Daddy actually.
The Bruins were middle of the pack for the regular season but of playoff qualifiers they were not vg. I could have been more clear.
The Bruins finished a +107 ..........SJ +505, Det. +469, Chgo +403...
You can believe in Corsi but you always need to qualify your opinion with TT was great etc...
The bottom line is if sports could be quantified to a tee there wouldn't be any cab drivers.
It's not that easy, and more so in hockey than other sports because the weighting on what is important changes and there are other factors like officiating which is always being tweaked.
This year a team which was not good at all in faceoff win % almost won the Cup.
The importance of the PP changes etc , as well as goal tending.
I can't open your links but to be honest it doesn't matter much because I know what I read and it came from a relaible site. If using Corsi alone to pick the Cup winner that year Boston wouldn't not have been in the running.
I will look at stats because I enjoy it and they do matter some, but I will stick with my own eyes to form a solid opinion.

ROFLAMO everytime I see one of these sabremetric geeks try to explain sports trends with a spreadsheet. And in no sport is that more evident than in MLB. Try as they might, they spin, spin and spin again. NHL is trending that way too.
Like it's been explained to the young-ones here at work time and time again: Statistics never lie, liars use statistics.
