I don't expect a team that had the depth of '09-'10 (we got really spolied with that and it set the bar too high), but if Hawks go out i the 1st round again next season, StanBo needs to go. Yeah, I know it's the obvious. Just writing what's on my mind. Yeah, I know it's not twitter or facebook. Ok, I'll stop. - HajdukChicago
Along with his Dad, Q, and Kitchen. Throw in Waite and Q's soon to be named new lackey in there for good measure too. McD should also be on that list, but I have a feeling Rocky would keep that douche bag. |

Lots of stuff on twitter saying Brendon Morrow might be available now..
Another big LW power forward that would really help this team - pri$ey

And to make things effin worse, my wife bought "Slap Shot 3" for my 6 year old son's birthday. Oh, there were words as a result of the blasphemy that was brought in our home. And to make it worse, it's rated PG and she wants me to watch it to see if it's appropriate for him. I said, "being Slap Shot 3 is inappropriate enough." - HajdukChicago
I sat through "Goon" over the weekend myself. I was not impressed.
Nothing beats "Slapshot." |

Nope, just building a retirement community there. |

If Stan is the one who eventually slams the breaks on deal after deal, it won't be long before Stan is back to being a capologist and Asst GM. Indecisive is the worst thing you can be. Which leads me to one of my favorite quotes from the Onion...."Friends remember roadkill Squirrel as frantic, indecisive" - eburgio
It isn't one person slamming the breaks. It's probably like a drivers ed car only with 4 or 5 pedals instead of two.
Also, I am under the impression that it isn't a majority vote or an input thing that goes on. I think that for deals to happen and salary to be added every single person involved needs to vote yes or it gets thrown out. |

1) Any word on Scotty's input?
2) I like Q, but agree.
3) As for McD. Never liked him. All he has ever done was market a team (Cubs) that haven't one in 104 years. Yes, I know any team can have a bad century, but consider this a rebuilding one. Plus, as a Cubs fan, I really have learned to deal with disappointment from my other sports teams quite well. I'm over losses (even big ones) within a few hours. |

Now there's a realistic option for SB. Would be be a huge help in the grit dept. and can bag a few goals too. |

I thought it was funny. I would buy it from the 5.99 bin, it was entertaining enough. |

I heard a positive review from Goon. Then again, it was from a 13 year old. |

Well, and that may speak to the organizational dysfunction that JJ has referenced. Good times abound |

It was recommended to my wife from my drunken friend and his wife.

Ah another dream that we come up with on here. Maybe SB will read this and realize its a good idea to get involved for a player that hits and can score when the team trading him wants offensive prospect and a top four dman |

Just putting out some practical, realistic options. Someone else also pointed out his relationship with Gilman of the Canucks and that management will be important. He lives in phoenix during the season and will sign in a second if he knows that they're staying there and Dallas because of his relationship with management is another option. Just my two bits. At some point you start looking at life after hockey and maybe his family has some sort of say here as well. It wouldn't be the first time that has happened, do you think. - djd
That is true...but if he only plays another 2 years then it's not really necessary, its not like he's signing a 10yr deal to stay in one city...
I think after Phoenix, pretty much any team will be considered, although I do believe he stays with a Western Conference team... |

I wonder if all of this talk about Doan is having the same effect on forwards as Parise and Suter did in the sense that the remaining free agent forwards are waiting for him to set the market. I think there are some good ones still out there who are might command the same salary. |

LOL, yep, and we'll move on to the next best greatest move he could/should make as soon as Morrow get's dealt. What a great way to pass the time.
One has to wonder about the fan convention coming up in the next couple of weeks. Not much to convene about, me thinks.
Maybe they'll unveil Q's assistant coach and hail him as a great signing. |

I actually enjoyed it. Its a funny movie, supposed to be funny and a lot of what is seen in the hockey side of it is unrealistic and it's supposed to be. The things I find funny about it is I can relate to a lot of the characters. Without giving away narratives, the captain's speeches before games made me laugh every time because a friend of mine is the same way these days.
Are there flaws in the movie? Hell yeah. In general though, I got my kicks out of it. Its better than most hockey movies though (the Slapshot sequels in particular anger me), not that they really raise the bar of excellence though. Anyways, I saw it as a free preview and it kept me awake for an hour and a half. |

Like who? There's Selanne, but he's going to Anaheim or he'll sit. There's Semin. He's got talent, but no drive.
Who else is left that is in the same talent bracket as Doan on the free agent market? |
