I heard last night that both teams have had extensive discussions about eachothers prospects.

OK, now that it's confirmed the Hawks have him as a scout, it doesn't do anything to douse the Habs' speculation. He knows their system as well as anybody.

Bonvie's a PRO SCOUT ? Great guy...met him once....honest enforcer, but a pro scout with us ? PHUCK ME.

I just posted this re: Doan on the last thread. Here it is again.

Doubtful that he goes to the 'hawks, IMO, and here's why. He lives off-season right here in Kamloops, his wife is from here, he runs a charity golf tourney and he also is part owner of the Kamloops Blazers of the WHL. You should see the size of the house he is building here. Massive. He has a summer home at a nearby lake.

What does all that have to do with where he signs. Well, Tom Gaglardi, new owner of the Stars also has a share in ownership of the WHL Blazers. It is also fairly evident that Doan will retire to this city when he's done playing, and he could sign with any of the Canucks, Oilers or Flames in which case he would be no more than an hour (as the crow flies) from home. He wants to win, so the Canucks would seem like the obvious choice. Failing that he may sign with Gaglardi's Stars. If I were betting, a)he stays in Phoenix or b) signs with the Canucks, c) with the Stars a possible 3rd destination.

That wasn't meant as a bash to Plekanec but.....

If the Hawks are going to trade a Saad, Danault, McNeil, Clendenning, and I'm not saying they shouldn't necessarily....

Those players have to be part of a bigger name coming back like Stastny or Evander Kane.

1st, i commend you for following up the habs/hawks rumor. too often we get "more to come" and nothing does.

as i said yesterday, a deal for hjalmarsson does make sense for the canadiens. not for him and kane. it would require the canadiens giving up more than they can afford. and certainly subban is not going anywhere. the only reason i can't see plekanec being moved is that the canadiens don't have depth to replace him at the centre position. for that reason, i just don't see a deal happening with the hawks.

Just because the Hawks are big on him doesn't mean he's big on the Hawks. Stan could be dead serious about getting Doan, but if the feeling's not mutual...doesn't mean squat.

His opinion is there is a 10% change they sign him. Saying the are BIG on Doan only means they are putting forth a huge effort/offer. His opinion can still be that there is only a 10% change Doan signs here. JJ is one of the few guys on here that does not report things just for shock value or page hits, if that's what your question is meant to insinuate.

Yep, they were BIG on Parise, Suter, Luongo, Carle and others. Doesn't mean they'll get them. There's probably 20 teams BIG on Doan which makes it a 5% chance if everyone is given a fair shake.
