Doan wouldn't come to NJ, and as the title says, I'm strictly comparing production. - Todd.Cordell
oh, i wasn't criticizing your comparison or anything, i was simply pointing out that, based on all that you're losing with parise (offense plus the other stuff), that perhaps a better replacement would be someone like doan.
why wouldn't he go to jersey? IMO you guys have as much chance of winning as teams like detroit or whoever else he's rumoured to be looking at. |

We all know he's not coming to Jersey.
As of right now, my Devils wishlist looks like this:
1. Semin 2. Wellwood 3. Mueller
I would love to have Doan on the Devils, if he comes to the Devils, I would be totally shocked. |

Last I heard he still wants to return and Lamoriello hasn't closed the door on the possibility. |

I'm all for getting Semin for like 3 years for like 5m ish a year. We'll see if it happens. I think he wants to go the the Pens but they'll only offer him a 1 year. If we offer a multi-year plus the chance to play with Kovy he might come, though playing with Malkin is just as good I suppose.
I love Parise, but for some reason I really wouldn't be surprised if he pulls a Gomez/Gionta and never quite has the production/success he had in NJ. That tends to happen to all good American forwards we lose. I guess we'll see. |

Regardless of what the stats say, I'm pretty sure that 99% of hockey fans would take Parise over Semin any day of the week! |

it seems ike 99% of the readers either have 0 reading comprehension or are just playing dumb
it was stated pretty clearly that it was just based off stats, and tc even said that he would take parise over semin every day (so would all of us) |

probably it would take a 4yr deal around 24mil to steal him from Pittsburgh. He wants there but they only want to offer him a 1yr deal. Maybe if we offer him a longer deal (3-4yrs) he might just come here but we are going to have to "overpay" a little because he wants Pittsburgh first |

I'll say this about Semin... he's taking his time to evaluate the options. He didn't just run to the most money like many other free agents do.
Maybe he'd be worth trying to sign in all of this. The "dominoes" were supposed to fall after Parise's signing but this has been a very slow summer with Nash, Luongo, and Ryan still part of their respective teams. They've seemed to have stopped around this guy.
You know what? I think he is strongly considering a choice between Pittsburgh and New Jersey and the reason he hasn't signed in Pittsburgh yet is because NJ countered with a pretty good offer, maybe 2-3 years vs. Pitts' 1 year. Cuz to him it's Kovy or Malkin.

i don't think one is any more realistic than the other. doan said he wants to go to a contender (pretty sure the cup finalists qualify), i'm sure he has a pretty solid relationship with brodeur, and there are some quality forwards to paly with. i'm not saying he will sign with the devils, but i think the chances are about the same as semin signing there, and he'd be a much better fit. if i'm gonna throw money at someone, it's doan, not semin. - sensarmy_11
My bet is neither sign with nj |

Of course, he could just be gunning for the highest contract offer, but if that were the process, it'd be over in an hour, not dragging out like this.

The dominoes were supposed to fall, but everyone forgot that Hudler, Parenteau and all those guys signed before Parise. The demands for Nash and Ryan are too unreasonable. They are one player, unless a team gives up assets that the opposing team feels is far more valuable then they actually are (see Oduya, Bergfors) then they aren't getting moved anytime soon. |

From what it seems like, Lamoriello knows he has Sykora as a fall back option. I think he wants to keep spots open. Right now, if he gets another player and then signs Sykora, there's no room for any other forwards to make the team. If he doesn't sign anyone, then Sykora can take one spot and then only one spot has to be filled within. |

I wouldn't be against 2 or 3 years. It will probably take 3-4 to pry him away from Pittsburgh. They are probably only giving him one and he wants more security. Give him 3 years 18 million or 4 years 24 million. |

One might think that Semin wouldn't be satisfied with less than 7 mill per year in light of the Parise and Suter contracts. Whether you feel they're being over paid or not, they've set a precedent. |
