I would have taken a Flyer on Mueller. He has upside...and 1,75 million is not that big of a gamble. |

just curious, what do you have against arnott? - b0s0o1
Aside from the fact that hes washed up, nothing
Great leader and yeah he had 17 goals last year but id still only take him for our 4th line and hes just not really that kinda player I dont think...wouldnt you think hed want 3rd line minutes somewhere?
I like our team as is...perhaps another little move might be in order but im content now
People always forget that we were pegged to be like a top 5 team in the eastern conference last year ....we tanked because of injuries and millers sudden disappearance in the beginning of the season
be patient folks...this team is fine |

Thank God!!! Everyone is saying that this team is on the fringe,as far as playoffs go!! People need to realize that this team will be just fine... I mean sure acquiring a Bobby Ryan or Stastny would help...but this team will be just fine IMO

glad we see eye to eye
Go back and look at the blogs prior to last season....everyone was calling for us to be in the eastern conference finals
New Jersey did two seasons ago what we did last....great expectations to start the season and then completely tanked horrendously....then won like 22 in a row or something like that (somewhat, somewhat similar to our run down the stretch) and still missed the playoffs
and then they made the stanley cup finals the following year.
Then they |

yeah I can't see the Avs moving a cornerstone type player like Duchene they are going to build around guys like him and O'Reilly. On the other hand I can see them dealing Stastny. |

I'm even hesitant towards trading Stastny considering the fact O'Reilly has only produced a 55 point season once. Stastny is a consistent and proven forward who I don't want to give up until I'm sure O'Reilly and Duchene can be the 1-2 punch going forward. But I mean if you're giving Vanek as part of the deal, that is pretty enticing. |

I think in our minds we need big headlines because we had them last year. But headlines dont we games, players do. We shed some dead weight and have some young guys that will really bring a new energy to the bench. Gives Lindy something new to work with as well. |

We aren't giving up Vanek, nobody wants Stastny so good luck. Our blogger has no clue. |

Please explain what makes vanek better since stastny averages more points per game? - MattDuchene9
Please explain why you think a guy that scores 20 goals a year for 6.6 mil is worth so much? Like I said before, Vanek with Duchene scores 35-40 goals. Stastny here still scores 20. He'd be a great second line center but a mediocre first liner. Plus we wouldn't have a LW for the first line. The only way it happens is if a winger comes back. For example Vanek/Hodgson for Stastny/Landeskog. To me, Hodgson and Landeskog are close to equal value. You guys say he's the second coming of Jesus and Hodgson's some scrub (even though Landeskog only scored three more goals and that's with Hodge switching teams). Anyway, none of this will ever happen. Stastny stays in Colorado and Vanek stays in Buffalo |

Landeskog isn't just about points, he's a natural leader and is so good defensiveley, he was the best player on our team last year, he wasn't injured and he was a plus 20 when almost everyone else on our team was a minus, in my opinion he is much better than hodgson who hasn't proven himself yet and ennis could play on the wing, landeskog will never be traded him and duchene will be the face of our franchise for years, there's a reason why he won the Calder despite RNH having almost a point per game and the trade would make no sense because no team gains anything they needed |

Obviously none of you sensed the sarcasm in my comment, I am really feeling embraced by the Sabres community... Either way there's nothing wrong with a little speculation; it's actually fun to read about. Obviously it wouldn't be Vanek for Stastny straight up, but they produce at about the same rate so really we shouldn't have to give up much more if it did happen. Good luck this year! |
