i haven't studied the stats, but this is what i saw of rej....
--good at moving the puck out of his zone, yet is easily rattled by a strong forecheck
--can't move strong forwards off the puck or out from in front of the net
--too many turnovers in the offensive zone that lead to breaks the other way
--too many times he shot the puck way wide and on many occasions a wide shot meant an odd-man rush the other way

Well, I mean, please read that evaluation I just posted. It lists his quality of competition, quality of teammates, corsi ratings both on and off the ice and also PP and PK advanced statistics. Sekera really was our best defenseman last year and its not even an argument.

I think you have such a lower expectation from Sekera (say compared to Myers or Ehrhoff) that the times he does shoot wide or turn it over are completely magnified by you.

Sekera was 3rd in missed shots behind Ehrhoff and Myers. Ranked 5th in giveaways behind Ehrhoff, Myers, Leopold, Weber.

He gets such a bad rap on here that its completely mind boggling. Sekera has a ton of value, and other NHL GM's know this.

You clearly don't know your team, you're desperate for a top center and vanek and stastny have very similar point production, I understand you being biased toward thinking your favorite players are better than they are though I do it too

Vanek has missed a total of 27 games in his career.. and has a .817 PPG avg

Stastny has missed 65 total games in his career and has a .876 PPG avg

one makes 7.1M and one makes 6.6M..

Vanek has 187 pts in his last 3 seasons while Stastny has had 189 pts.

Stastny has 8 points in 15 career playoff games (.533 ppg) while Vanek has 20 points in 36 games (.555 ppg)..

just putting this out there...

what would you take for stasty? dont forget, his cap hit is brtual

Garth just needs something to talk about lol. That being said, I would seriously consider a Myers-Duchene swap, other parts would probably have to be added on both ends but it would help both team needs no?

No see the problem here is you are way over valuing Stasnty and I know what value Vanek has to this team and organization while you don't. That's the problem.

Vanek is worth far more than Stastny.

Just that simple really.

Agreed, we are on the same page with everything! If he is moved for something we have a glaring need for then pull the trigger...obviously it's a first line center.
