Yea, they both are guys who want to have the puck gain possession of the offensive zone and go from there. Kessel is the kind of guy who likes to get the puck just outside the Leafs blueline, which is why I think what the Leafs need isn't a "playmaker" but more of a north-south guy who will get him the puck and go do little things (go to the net, come back hard defensively, win puck battles, etc.)

Who's to say that Grabovski doesn't play that game out of necessity because of his linemates? Neither Kulemin or MacArthur has that same explosiveness that works more often than not for Kessel to gain the zone.

I still think it's worthwhile to try again: if it works out, it solves a lot of problems for us top to bottom in the roster.

You guys think the Bruins will actually figure our their PP this year? It's too one dimensional. Get the puck to the point and have Chara rip a slap shot.

It would work if that's not all they did, and if they used it along with other plays but teams know that we'll constantly blast the puck from the point.

People say we need a Nash or Ryan for our PP, but I just think we need better puck movement below the line and near the net rather simply from the high boards and from D to D. Drives me crazy. And we have the players that can do that.

We had a PP with two minutes left in game 7 and couldn't score...it's ridiculous

I thought it worked well when you had Horton in the slot, maybe that is the boost you need if he comes back healthy, another year older and experience with Seguin will help as well.

It essentially comes with the territory for the wingers. Nothing against Lucic and the group of wingers in Boston, because I absolutely them, but they don't have the distribution skills off the wall to be an effective puck movement team. I don't think Ryan solves that either-- he's very north-south.

With the revolving door of Kabs/Corvo(lol)/Wideman and such not working out and all liking to be stationary, you have to think a rover would be the trick. Like a Mike Green who is always shifting around drawing players out of position. ATM it looks like a bunch of pylons working the drills.

Yeah, true. I just really hope even when he comes back and if Seguin gets a more prominent PP role that they don't stick with the same philosophy. And to your point remember the PP in last years playoffs with Horton? Not so hot, they still did the same thing. That regular season it was working though, because they weren't blasting away from the point.

I don't think that point shots are nearly as effective on the pp anymore. To much collapsing and shot blocking.

If I ran the show, it would be all about cross-crease passes and banging in rebounds.

That's essentially what Seguin should be doing-- even if he were a center, you'd want to rotate a winger into the center hole at the net/slot, and rotate Seguin to the wall.
