between Tinordi and Thrower, it's certainly not a long-term issue for the Habs to deal with. but for the next season or two, they need to figure out a way to be tougher back there. - DoubleDown
Not that he's huge but Subban stands his ground.
Beaulieu is not known for his physical play but he's 6'2 200pounds+
Bouillon for one year is good thoughness back there (hope he will be at the gym at 12h) |

Well Montreal is a bilingual city... I guess it would be weird to tune in without knowing if it's in french or english but alot of people do speak both languages and wouldn't care.
Would also be interesting to see the clash since they don't usually have the same opinion on the team. - Scabeh
Billingual radio station is an interesting idea.
You are right that it would be interesting to hear from the two parties.
But this would require a complete fluent billingual hosting team. To get the station going could be the challenge at start but this station could grow into Montrealers as bilinguisme is becoming a must in Montreal. |

agree. my company is specifically trying to hire anglophones because the employees here are so anglophobic and want nothing to do with English that it's virtually closed the company off to any Canadian market outside of Quebec and Eastern Ontario. |

Do you really think that would work though? You would be cutting down your listening audience quite a bit I would think.
I'm being serious do you think French (only) listeners would tune in when they didn't understand half of what was being said....and vice versa.
It's and interesting concept but I don't think it would work. |

It's an interesting point. I live in Toronto, so can only pick up 990 online. I sometimes listen at my desk or at home before work. Truthfully, the times I have listened the quality was marginal. Maybe just bad timing, but I wouldn't buy a subscription even though I'd love the Habs coverage. - CaseysHabs
the problem is that there's a credibility issue. mitch melnick is really the only true sports radio personality and he's on vacation half the time. do you really care about shaun starr's opinion? ted bird rehashing his "bird droppings?" tony jabroni and his pretentious "i'm an insider" b.s.? randy t and his guests ranging from local golf course groomers to fishing experts? and how much can one possibly listen to ufc blah, blah, blah or live remotes from playground poker in beautiful downtown kahnawake?
the truth is that it is the montreal canadiens that keeps the station relevant. out of season, there just isn't the talent to keep sports fans tuning in. years ago, there were personalities like mitch garber, gabriel morency who were edgey enough to make you want to listen. the station lost that edge and replaced them with a bunch of guys who spend as much time talking about their kids and movies as they do about sports.
it is what it is. yes, they give montreal anglos a "voice." but too few really tune in and in the end, that is why they're on the chopping block. the good will survive. melnick will find a home somewhere. most of the others will likely go by the wayside. as a human being, you don't ever want to see another lose their livelihood. so from that perspective, i wish them all good luck. but let's be real here. the content, for the most part, was just not riveting enough to shed tears over.
p.s.- is there a petition we can sign to halt this travesty? |

I don't think all the shows would be bilingual but you could have some in french, some in English and a few that cross over. Montreal already isn't a huge market for any specialty offering but when you chop it in half you just have two stations fighting for scraps |
