I guess game 6 of the Finals was the last NHL game we'll be watching for a while. |

If it is Buffalo I'm sure there's more to it....like maybe wrong numbers given. I really think it was a feeler and that he'll stay in Phoenix anyway which will make all of this mute. Possible ploy to still get Bobby Ryan.

exactly, both side are positioning themselves right now. They will end up in the middle on most of those demands, might get more on some and less on others. |

The only one of those demands that I could actually see happening is getting rid of arbitration, because the players hate that to. Other than that, there's gonna be some fun negotiations on this poop. |

i doubt there will be a lockout, even with fehr running the show
both sides know that there cant be another lockout within 10yrs of each other and having 3 lockouts in 20years
they also said they could start the season without a CBA |

How the hell would playing without a CBA even work? Would they just go with the current CBA until they figure out the new one? |

they would keep using the current one (until the end of the season i assume) and then go off the new one
but if talks get real ugly the season my stop midway through
im sure they will get something done though |

I don't put anything past Donald Fehr and don't discount the will of ownership to get some givebacks. You know ownership is getting shafted when the union says they're willing to play the season based on the current deal.
The owners would be fools to start the season without a new CBA.....that won't happen.

I don't get how 10 seasons in NHL before UFA status coincides with the 5 year entry level deal proposal. |

- Reduce player revenues
- UFA for 10 years
- 5 year entry level contracts
If true = STRIKE or LOCKOUT for sure .
Let's hope both sides are that stupid ! |

If the Isles offered Doan 7.5, I wouldnt even care at this point. I wouldn't mind a change of scenery. Something to look forward to for the upcoming season. Its only 4 years, we have way too much money to spend, no one signs here anyway. Overpayment? absolutely, no question. I honestly feel like the 7.5 wouldnt even backfire on the team. By the time this team becomes a contender the contract will be expiring. |

I don't even consider them part of Canada anymore. I've visited multiple cities within Canada, and almost all of them treat you with respect and a kind attitude. However, in Montreal, the attitude is so different towards non-canadians it's like you're in another country. |

Its buffalo. They already have the cap room, they're tryin to trade vanek, and they need to offer more money because doan doesn't want to go to the eastern conference because of family. U heard it here first. |

Buffalo is trying to trade vanek, they already tried too to an undiclosed team and the trade wasn't accepted. I just talked to paul hamilton at a bar in buffalo yesterday after the rookie scrimmage and he verified this, (he is one of the top sabres insiders in buffalo). He also said buffalo still wants bobby ryan, but what we are offering isn't enticing enough to anahiem, even when we had roy. |

BS. I don't believe there is a team in the league that would offer Doan that money for that term. He is a 35 year old heart and soul guy on the downside of his career. |

Doan is worth no more than 5 mil. And if the Sharks were to sign him, I'd hope it was for no more than 3 years. |
