Howson doesn't need help looking bad. - Moshe52792
 Beat me to it. |

Ive been saying this since I heard it.
This has Sather and NYR written all over it. Sather has a history of giving out bigger overpaid contracts and they have been looking to add scoring. Doan fits their style of play and they have been looking into him. Gaborik is out until around December and will need immediate scoring help.
They are probably fed up with the asking price for Nash and Ryan |

Doan is worth 4-4.5 million per year. Any team that offers more is desperate.

Yeah, no.
Sather hasn't really overpaid in a while. It's likely that Torts has him in a torture chamber and controls the organization at this point.
The Rangers should get Doan, but they don't have money like that, especially with McDonagh/Kreider/Stepan/Anisimov/Hagelin/DZ needing raises. |

More like Islanders written all over it. Nobody wants to sign here and the only way we're going to get anyone of value is to throw out a ridiculous offer like that. Sad but true. |

Even 2 years, 11 million is desperate. four years, 30 million is just insane. |

The Islanders dont need guys to play on the wing, they need a second centerman. |

Gaborik 105 goals in 220 games for the Rangers. Over the last 3 years he's been one of the top goal scorers in the league.
It's pretty silly to put him with the other guys. - Moshe52792
when he was signed, he was arguably the most injury prone player in the entire league, and sather still gave him 7.5 mil on a long term deal. my point was that sather throws around big money contracts, often to "questionable" players, all the time. gaborik has been productive, but i think that he's still overpaid, and at the time, the contract looked INSANE |

They absolutely need a guy to play on Tavares right side now that PA is gone. We need a second line center also, but a top line RW is a big need. |

There's a difference between throwing $7.5 million at a top goal scorer in his prime, even with an injury history and giving $7.5 million to a 35 year old who will most likely top out at 45 points.
Considering what the Rangers have done over the last 3 years (smart signings and trades, relying on kids) I highly highly doubt Sather would make any move like this. |
