do you think adding Briere instead of Voracek allows the flyers to keep some of the picks/prospects?
Briere and Ried

would send more salary the other way...and would give a "name" back to Nashville for the next few years to provide some offense and playoff performance.
not saying i'd do it...but do yo uthink that alters the asking price? - eshake

That is its exact intended purpose.. to by time. Honestly though... getting your wrist fixed and rehabbing properly, you could likely go back to playing in due time. Likely have decreased strength, but better than constant pain! - jak521
the shot really has kept me from having pain. its occasional. without the shot it was constant. doesn't stop me from shooting or anything. its in a spot where it doesn't really hamper me too much. I took the surgery option on my back cause i was in constant pain and spasms
A lot of the blame would have to go on to RAJ.. after all, he has been the one putting the team together.. Hamels has been one of the most consistent pitchers in the entire league since 07. He has one a world series, including garnering MVP honors in both the NLCS and World Series. He isnt even 30. The kid needed to be resigned.. but instead we gave the big money to Lee, Halladay, Utley and Howard. - jak521
Here's what I don't understand. They signed Lee to a 5 year deal which runs until he's 37 years old. Why won't they give Hamels, who is 29, a 6-7 year deal? It will take him to the same age.

regardless of age 7 years on a gaurenteed contract is a lot to lock up. Phils previously didn't go beyond 3 years but made an exception for Lee.

From all the reports I hear, that is the hangup. That the Phils don't want to go 6-7 years on a deal. - MJL
Hamels has also said he'd like to see what he's worth, how else to do that other than to test free agency. He's also said he'd like to give the Phillies a chance to re-sign him if he got that far and received offers.

if they could move Lee and keep Cole, that'd be ideal for me.
he's been my fav phillie since 07
but losing Hamels wouldnt be the end of the world, imo, either.
if they trade him they can get great value..
and if there's one depth position in this org its starting pitching (big club and minors).
they have like zero quality everyday player prospects.
use Cole's money to sign a quality FA bat or two.
