I don't think it will happen though. Barring the unforeseen, I think this is pretty much the team the Flyers will take to camp. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, I'm glad Holmgren didn't gut the core again, it's essential to let this group build some chemistry and cohesion.
A few tweaks around the trade deadline with the cap space the Flyers have available and they can improve the team in season. - PLindbergh31
Are the Flyers better than last year? That's the question that will have to be answered. I like the team a lot but would like to see one more scorer added like Semin that doesn't cost anything but money. |

I don't think they are better than last year and definitely not as good as one year ago (because they had Pronger then). That being said, everyone in the division got worse or stayed the same in my mind. Pens lost Staal, Islanders lost Parenteau, Devils lost their captain and heart/soul of their team and the Rangers are pretty much the same team minus Prust. There's still a lot of offseason left though. |

Weber proposals anyone?
My opening offer would be Read, Meszy, Cousins, and 2 1st round picks. |

Not right now they aren't, at least on paper, but that can all change around the deadline, where I'd expect the Flyers to be major players. |

Im coming around to the Flyers offering Semin a 2 year deal. He is NOT Zherdev in that he has produced at a pretty good clip for a while in this league. I don't want them to break the bank on him, but two years at 8-9 million might be worth the risk.
Especially now if his recent FA experience might mean he has something to prove.
I would rather this than trading assets for over rated players. At least over rated in terms of what it would take to acquire them.

Anyone else scared by this New CBA proposal...I think it rewards mediocre market teams and cripples teams like the flyers. i dont see how owners of big market teams can support this. |

"on paper" they aren't better, but that doesn't mean a hill of beans. Some better fortune on the injury front, and more consistent play from Bryzgalov and this can be a 100+ point team again this year. |

Not bad, then they say we want Coots and Coburn.
Read, Coburn, Coots, 2 1st rders........
I do not envy Homer in this situation |

Semin makes the most sense but I haven't seen anything at all that the Flyers are even interested in him. |

I wouldn't move Couts.
I'd deal both Schenn brothers before I included him in a package.

I'd be interested, but only on a 1-year contract. |

I don't see an issue. Don't get involved in the bidding war. |

I'm leaning toward this for what it would take. They might want Voracek over Read as well. |

I think they need another scorer like Semin. We all know that injuries are going to occur. This team never seems to stay healthy and the more depth you can add the better you are. |

I dont think that is enought to even get a sniff at Weber's jock unfortunately.
I think it would cost us:
Coburn, Bourdon, Couturier, Read, and 2 firsts. |

Agreed, but I don't want his cap hit impacting potential moves next off-season.
A 1-year deal is something I'd very, very interested in, but no more. |

You'd be foolish to move Couturier and Coburn in any trade.
I understand you have to give to get, but not those 2.
Schenn 1, Schenn 2, + prospects/picks is about as far as I'd go. |

I understand that, but at the same time the Flyers dont have to trade for Ryan. That is why I said now or never. If the reports are true and the Flyers are offering Voracek, Read, Bourdon, and a pick for Ryan then Anaheim has to decide if they can get more value later, or if this over-payment now will be the best deal out there. If the Flyers withdraw their offer then Anaheim might not see another offer quite as good. It's negotiations 101. Walk away with a final offer, and watch them stop you and buy. - RooNosHockey
As reported on NBC several weeks ago (by WIP legend Howard Eskin), Anaheim was asking for Gus, Read, and a 1st. The Flyers, as reported, would have to step up and meet that offer.
We are all biased to some extent, but Voracek, Read, Bourdon, and a pick are too much. We will never know the truth, but I am sure the teams are being patient at this point in the year. This crap may drag out for several, several, months.

One year at 5.5-6M. Not sure Semin would sign that deal though. |
