well when you look at Weber it seems that they tried to work out a trade that would be better for everyone and then the Flyers just got sick of waiting. I'm guessing the threat of it makes some trades happen that benefit both sides... what the (frank) do I know though....

Maybe we'll see more in the future, with the ridiculous length of contracts given to "top" players, the UFA pool seems to get weaker every year. So maybe the GMs will go the offersheet route in order to get a high profile player.

I guess it could happen with the very few elite players.

But to make an offer big enough so the other team doesn't match... you have to overpay (therefore giving away more picks) or take advantage of their cap situation.

I doubt the whole ufa after 10 years makes it through the negociation really.

Everything that's been offered by the owners will either be heavily diminished or dropped completely.
