i agree and disagree about the going to college part. easier to skip "climbing up the ranks" with a degree than if you went straight to the job to be trained by them. You'd be stuck behind for years, longer than the time it takes to go to college than if you got a degree. - theblueandgold
Colleges just need to add a certain amount of practical training to the curriculum. |

THIS
showing your hard work ethic by going to college an obtaining a degree or even a masters degree means you won't get stuck on an entry level hourly wage or small salary working entry level hours overnight, weekends, and holidays.
just my 2 cents. |

engineer? i dont think an employer is going to take a risk on somethign like that without knowing you have the ability to do the work. which is all school is, a place to show you are capable of doing it - SabresFaninIndiana

if your not going into one of those fields I mentioned, better off starting your own business and working for yourself
I make so much more money doing that and most companies will make you a budget cut as you get closer to pension and replace you with a temp
sad state of our country now a days
in the 50's ward cleaver could work an average job and support his family
then mrs cleaver enters the work force
then the job gets devalued
now it's shifting where the company cares more about the bottom line then the families of the workers - homiedclown

Well said and I agree...unfortunately many do not see getting a quality education as motivation and motivating oneself to be educated. - ItsaGthang
The quality of education is there, even in poopty Buffalo. But what do you do with a kid who doesn't care? Wants to text through class everyday? Cant stay awake because his parents let him play video games till 2am?
They always talk about in Asian countries like South Korea and what not that have such superior education systems, thats not really true. They have a really motivated population who wants to go to college in America or Canada as opposed to living in a very small two room apartment with thier parents forever only to go on to work at an electronics factory for averge wages.
Hockey comment to make this post legit: Im concerned about the CBA. |

problem with welfare, they have it so good there is no reason to get off of it
give them the birth control shot
make them work 20 hours a week, picking up trash or something
make them get a skill or trait in vocational school the other 20 hours a week
put the bastards in day care while this is going on
if they refuse to do it, take them off welfare - homiedclown
agree, how come they dont drug test but to be in the military you get drug tested |

If we had a real GM and scouts they would be smart enough to figure out if Ennis will be a player who is going to get better(30 goals 70 plus points) or stay the way he is(20 goals 50 pts), why not take a chance and lock him up lock term and save MILLIONS like they did with Myers. Look at how many years Detroit had Zetterberg locked up for only 2.9 million because they had scouts and GM who could rate skill and talent. |

agree my mom was a community health nurse... the amount of places on welfare but have huge flat screen tv's escalades with rims but trash all over the place and the smell and the cockroaches
I will say some places have started to come around from what it used to be - hubie
My favorite are the people who call into the call center and say they need a reduction in their bill because they are on welfare and can't afford their $200 cable bill. When I tell them they need to remove some of their extra services (HBO, faster internet speeds, etc) they tell me they have to have that.
The only reason we had full cable when I was growing up was because my mom worked for the cable company. Otherwise, we probably wouldn't have had anything at all. If it's a matter of watching TV or having dinner, I choose to have dinner. |

Grigorenko's salary plus bonuses ($1,775,000) would rank 4th highest among draftees from 2011. Entry level maximum was the same. #Sabres

yes... i never understood the point of going to college not knowing what you want to do just to get a business degree and then go work for XYZ landscape company as a laborer.. you could have just done that out of highschool, not paid for college, and probably worked your way up in that four years |

I honestly don't have a problem with it, they may have given him the extra money to keep him from going to the KHL.

It'll be interesting to see how they handle Grigorenko
They don't have to give him the 9game tryout right away...
They could send him to juniors to start & then call him up say 30games in and see how he looks
Or they could give him a few games, send him down, bring him up for a few more...
It doesn't have to be 9 games in a row
They could also wait till his junior season is over & bring him up
Lots of options there - jdfitz77
This isn't 100% true. A player that is sent down to the CHL following training camp can be recalled to the NHL team, but only in an exceptional situation, such as medical emergency.
This is how Nazem Kadri was recalled for a single game his rookie season despite being sent down to start the year |
