my favorite is when your at wegmans and yes they have an iphone BUT are buying condoms / cigarettes with there "food stamp" credit card!

My favorite are the people who call into the call center and say they need a reduction in their bill because they are on welfare and can't afford their $200 cable bill. When I tell them they need to remove some of their extra services (HBO, faster internet speeds, etc) they tell me they have to have that.

The only reason we had full cable when I was growing up was because my mom worked for the cable company. Otherwise, we probably wouldn't have had anything at all. If it's a matter of watching TV or having dinner, I choose to have dinner.

my parents didn't have cable until i was in like 10th grade... which would have been around 1998.

Yeah, I worked part-time in college at a convenience store and often times people would come into the store pick up a 12-pack and try to pay with their food stamps. After declining they would take the money from their card out of the ATM and buy it with cash. Always made me very angry!

The quality of education is there, even in poopty Buffalo. But what do you do with a kid who doesn't care? Wants to text through class everyday? Cant stay awake because his parents let him play video games till 2am?

They always talk about in Asian countries like South Korea and what not that have such superior education systems, thats not really true. They have a really motivated population who wants to go to college in America or Canada as opposed to living in a very small two room apartment with thier parents forever only to go on to work at an electronics factory for averge wages.

I battle that every school day. It's beyond frustrating and when you try to take it away...the answer is u dont pay my bill. There are so many good point that everyone has brought up from all of u I just wish I had a better solution

This goes back to my motivation comment. This family on welfare gets high speed cable internet, digital TV with HBO and all the bells and whistles. Meanwhile the rest of us get to work for it? And we all know the joys of actually working. Idiot co-workers, jerk bosses, taxes, CUSTOMERS! All the while those welfare folks probably also get better, free healthcare.


Thats the problem, we dont draw our lines in the sand. We invite everyone to the party. Weather its free cell phones, cable, whatever. Then with all the jobs leaving Buffalo and the USA for so many years people get fed up and broken and end up joining "the dark side" where its so much easier to just be a bum than it is to work for stuff. You basically get the same stuff.

I certainly don't think it helps his cause, especially with the way Buffalo (or should we call it Beefalo now? God I sound like Garth now) has been trending lately with the bigger more physical type players.

I think the problem isn't Gerbe... but instead it is who he could replace.. whether it be for years with the team, high salary, or political.. or just Gerbe might be better overall but a player like Kaleta or McM bring other traits that we need more than Gerbe.

I don' tknow who Gerbe could unseat espeically with Grigs and Big Z.

Bring jobs back to America so people have a reason to finish high school and college. A reason NOT to have a criminal record. A reason not to be a drug addict junkie and break into my car twice a week. People actually have to be missing out on something to feel like they are midding out on something.
